Last Wednesday, Nov. 5th I closed on my new home in Southeast Tennessee.
Last Friday, Nov. 7th movers arrived at my now former home in Orland Park, IL and loaded up the moving truck. I was so anxious to get out of HELLINOIS, I'd already boxed up everything that wasn't furniture into moving boxes and made the job as easy as possible for the movers.
Loading up the 26' moving truck took about three hours and the movers were darn' impressed at how easy it was for them.
Saturday mid-day, the moving truck arrived at my new home in Southeast Tennessee (Loudon County) and we proceeded to unload the truck. Boxes were labeled for the rooms they went to, furniture was unloaded and put where I wanted it in just over two hours. Unloading is ALWAYS faster, and I helped unload.
I am a free man, outside the tyrannical reach of IL Gov JB Prickster (as we call him...) and that fat SOB can no longer seize my legally acquired weapons that he and the Democrats of IL decided one day were "illegal" and demanded I either turn them in or register them. (I did NEITHER, as did 90% of the rest of IL Gun Owners.)

I congratulate you, unfortunately for me, I probably won’t be leaving anytime soon. Trapped in Pritzger’s Prison. For now, anyway…
Congratulations I’m trying out a new microphone for my computer and it’s now giving me a transcript of what I want to say. My computer matters aside, I was born in Chicago in in 1942 and lived in Illinois until 1974, after which I made a couple of moves and ended up in Knoxville TN in 1987. Ends up having been the best move I ever made and I worked here until I retired. The fact that Tennessee respects the taxpayers and the Second Amendment is compelling. The only Way to Describe Chicago is as “Sh..cago.” Indeed the whole state has gone into the pigsty. You’re wonderfully lucky and I congratulate you on staying here, especially because it looks like you’re going to be a terrific Trumpster and a terrific Republican.
Congratulations!
Thanks for sharing the wonderful news!
Everyone I know who could move out of state has. Those with money are gone. They may still have a house or apartment behind. But they vote somewhere else. They pay taxes somewhere else. And they socialize somewhere else. We live in Wisconsin. When we go back to our Illinois home, we buy gas and groceries just before the border so we don’t pay Illinois taxes. Not just because they are higher taxes, but because we don’t want to support Illinois. Illinois has all the murders because they have all the gangs. Its a drug trafficking hub for the country.
When ICE risks going into a Chicago neighborhood to find one guy and pull him out of his home or his job, its because he is really really bad. And those antifa types who try to stop them understand that he is a important gang member. They know he is bad and yet they still support the gang thug over ICE. Because Illinois is a crime ridden state.
But that explains why over time those places get more and more blue. All the smart people have left. That’s why Seattle and NYC now have the mayors they have.
Congrats! I moved from PA to South Carolina. Love it...less taxes and friendly folks!
Congratulations, TN has a lot to see and enjoy. Beautiful State.
Good on ya bro.
We feel the same way about NH.
Greetings from Sullivan County and welcome! You’re gonna love it in TN.
I was born right smack dab in Chicago. Greatest City. We would take L downtown to watch a movie, walk up to the top of the Predential Building, tallest at the time, walk to Oak Town to the guitar shops,, then come back on the train late afternoon. We were only 12 and 13 years old. Side walks everywhere, people walking at night in their neighborhoods. Keeping your doors pretty much unlocked.
Then after Kennedy was shot came the beginning of the end. Viet Nam, Mayor Daly’s low income housing etc. Flight to the subburbs.
I got married and moved to Peoria....then to Bloomington.
I FINALLY GOT OUT IN 2009. OBAMA PUT THE DAGGER IN THE STATE, AND FLED TO GEORGIA.
Illinois and esp Chicago is a toilet. Until the politics are right, nothing will change, only worse.
Now you have Marijuana Outlets and Slots next to McDonalds.
Crime every where. Leave your doors unlocked? lol
Welcome. I left Wisconsin for Memphis, back in 2010. Memphis has its challenges for sure, but it’s a far better place.
I’m very happy that you escaped from “no man’s land” and have found happiness in Tennessee! I’ve always thought Tennessee was one of the most beautiful states in our country! Congratulations!
Glad you escaped! I left about 5 years ago and am so much happier in my new state.
Glad you left. Hope you are happy in your new home.
I grew up in Hinsdale, IL a very long time ago. Beautiful town, great schools, wonderful friends. Pricey there but my dad, who never finished high school ,could afford it. He was in an old University of Illinois study: “The Last of the Self-Made Men. “
Congratulations on your intrepid preparations! We retreated to one of the last decent places left in Colorado, as far from the commie Front Range as possible. This county went 60/40 Trump. Was out for a walk and saw a sign on a fence:
“Forget the dog, worry about the owner!” It included a picture of a pistol pointing at the reader. We bought some recreational land outside town. The owner left behind his sign visible from the locked gate: “If you can read this, you’re in range.”
Great. Just remember Palermos does express shipping.
“Saturday mid-day, the moving truck arrived at my new home”
Great!
Uh, which room is mine?
Crystal Lake to Germantown in 98.
Congratulations to you Sir. Enjoy your new life.
Tennessee was on my short list of where to go on retirement. I decided on Kansas because of costs, politics, Bill of Rights, relatives. Just needed to find a reasonable size town.
Left Nevada in October 2020. California is moving in and bringing their crime and stupid with them. It was past time to go, just had to retire.
