This EV market bloodbath can’t be what it seems.

I don’t give a crap about the cars. The model x is neat but everything else is just more modern day garbage.

What I have been following is the Livewires inventory. I buy bikes based on one thing - looks. The Livewire 1 is a beautiful bike, and I want it.

I understand that they are making them, but only selling about 25 of them a year. Taking a bath. I also hear that the prices are dropping.

So I’ve done this “negotiating” things at the dealership. Mind you, in personal friends with the owner of the dealership. They are willing to come down about 5k on the 30k price tag.

All these articles make it sound like they are now affordable but I have yet to see that reality.

If you subsidize a good or service, it triples the price.

Bureaucratic Idiots throughout American history have caused more public harm than imaginable.

I follow several car people YT channels, and the common theme is that the companies complaining about sales have only themselves to blame. Prices are far too high.

The second best selling car model in the world is a Tesla Model Y.

There is no EV in the world that can compete with the Model Y.

Oh and the Model 2’s will arrive shortly. The prices are $16,000 for the regular and $25,000 for the extended range model

The Maybach EQS 680 costs $180,000 to $200,000. You’d have to be insane to buy one of them even with a $50,000 discount.

Or I could buy a used Corolla, low mileage, for less than 20 Grand ...

but that wouldn’t signal my virtue ...

I stick by my prediction that hardly used and even brand new EVs will end up in the crusher due to a lack of demand.

Before you get excited by the discount and run right out to get you a new “2025 Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680” just know that the starting price for one is $180k.

So is it a big deal that they’re discounting them? I guess? But they’re STILL not cheap, and I can’t imagine that these discounts will have much of an impact on sales.

The EQS models look a lot smaller than the gasoline-powered S or GLS - so I can understand the hesitation over paying 180K for what appears to be a mid-sized car. They have to keep the weight down to get enough battery life.

Though I was given an EQE AMG coupe SUV as a loaner the last time my car was in for service and I have to admit the thing is awesome - especially the acceleration.

MB is still a luxury brand catering to older customers, and electric vehicles are a difficult sell to that demographic. Elon should take some design tips from the EQS models and upgrade the interiors of the Tesla Model S.
