2025 headed toward both record dog attack fatalities & record pit bull-inflicted fatalities
BAXLEY, Georgia; DAYTONA BEACH, Florida; NASHUA, New Hampshire; BACLIFF, TEXAS––Nine pit bulls killed four people in five days between October 8, 2025 and October 12, 2025.
That brought the 2025 U.S. dog attack death toll to 70, just five behind the record toll of 75 reached in 2024, with 52 confirmed deaths by pit bull, five behind the record toll of 57, reached in 2023.
The four most recent victims included three people who were killed by their own or their own family’s pit bulls, plus 86-year-old Maria D. Nunez of Baxley, Georgia. . . " . . .

I’m a Rottweiler owner, myself (sadly not currently.)
I was told said rottie would kill everyone, my cats, my daughter, etc.
Never happened.
She had her K9 Good citizen, was trained by the former k9 trainer of the Gainesville PD.
She was also a goofball with a show dog pedigree a mile long.
Apparently, several freepers here said she’d eat my daughter... daughter is now 23, and the rottweiler passed (in my arms) after a short battle with cancer almost 18 years ago.
She is the dog by which all of my other dogs are measured by.
The greater issue is that “ certain groups “ are now breeding dogs like Cane Corsos and similar breeds with so-called “pit bulls” to further enhance their scummy “street cred”.
No one ever wants to address the “culture” that started this crap in the late 80s.
Dog fighting is bigger than you’d ever imagine.
And the “ cultures” involved should not shock you.

2024: A 2-year-old boy was fatally mauled by dogs at a daycare in Georgia.
The dogs included a basset hound and several Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs

A local advocate for adopting dogs from the kennel before they’re euthanized says that almost every dog EXCEPT for pit bulls and rottweilers get adopted. Those two are almost always put down.

pits should have their blood recorded at maturity and likewise when they’ve attacked to help identify possibly unique traits
