The National Basketball League in one short video:
Bro forgot to pack a suitcase! And I'm not even gonna sit here and argue about the number of steps -- that's just a lot of steps!
The internet had some thoughts:

Love Giannis, but boy do I hate the no-call here.

I remember when people cared a LOT less about pro sports (panem et circenses) and the world was a better place

Yankees and Red Sox fans were even more passionate back in the '70s. I know second hand that Brooklyn Dodgers fans were back in the '40s and '50s. Losing the team was a very big deal that broke the heart of the borough.
Some college programs (Penn State, Notre Dame, Alabama) have had intense fanatical followings forever.
Outside of WW I, the 1919 Black Sox scandal was the biggest news that year, bigger than an incapacitated president. Some sports (boxing, real wrestling, horse racing) used to be a VERY big deal, with culture shaping followings.
The only thin I can think of tht's different is that the NFL managed to find a way to get a lot of women interested in the action. That, and leglaized sports book gambling over most of the country. I do not know how the gambling will play out, only that it won't be good.

I remember officials doing their damned jobs.....I suspect the refs in the NBA have been intimidated into not holding players to the letter of the rules.
Nowadays in sports some rules seem to be optional.
I’ve also noticed in pro and college football some safety equipment seems to be optional as well.
Apparently mouth protectors aren’t mandatory or knee pads either......many players appear to be wearing shorts.

There used to be a basketball call called ‘palming the ball’ also called ‘carrying’. I wonder what ever happened to that?
I see violations of that rule in every game. It must have been thrown out at some point.....

The refs had Giannis at 32 on the over/under. they had to let him score.

Palming? Uh that was Jordan’s rule. He could palm all he wanted. That’s when it went away.

I remember when America was obsessed with pro sports, schools even allowed us to bring our transistor radios for the World Series.

I checked with Google AI and it said it’s still an infraction, but it’s rarely enforced because it’s difficult to determine and supposedly provides no advantage to the player with the ball.............

The Sports governing authorities should stop hiring BLIND Referees under their DEI programs. It isn’t helping................
