LOS ANGELES — Mitt Romney’s brother filed for divorce just four months before his estranged wife plunged to her death from a California parking garage – and tried to make sure courts awarded her nothing in the split, according to documents.
George Scott Romney, 81, filed the case against 64-year-old Carrie Elizabeth Romney on June 12, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to court documents obtained by The Post.
Despite being married more than eight years, starting in 2016, he said that they had no shared property that needed to be divided by the courts.
Romney also sought to “terminate the court’s ability to award support” to either person, court documents show, suggesting he wanted to make sure the courts didn’t step in and give his wife any assets.
Other documents from the split – filed by Romney as the petitioner – noted that both parties had agreed to “mediate property and support.”
Carrie, however, filed documents requesting spousal support.
She has had an unsteady history with money, notably filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2001 with a former husband.
Carrie’s body was found at the base of a Valencia parking garage on Friday evening night.
It remains unclear whether she fell or if she jumped.

The garage was at the Hyatt Regency (near intersection of McBean & Magic Mtn Parkway).
I don’t understand why that possibility was left out either.

Ah, yes I posted a second post mentioning that as an afterthought. Right across the street from the mall parking. Haven’t been in that Hyatt in a very long time but just drove by it recently and think that garage is up by the street on facing the hotel tower.

Like the good Mormon that he is, he was married three times. Carrie was his latest wife. He has 7 children from his previous marriages...none with Carrie. Former RNC Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel is the most well known of his children. He’s a corporate lawyer in Michigan.
Thanks. Town Center Drive isn’t really a “street”. It’s just two driveways leading to private commercial properties. On the west side is the Hyatt Hotel and on the east side is the “town center” mall. McBean Blvd in between. It does have a light, and you can drive across but its private land on both sides off McBean.

When I see a man or woman over the age of 60 to 65 depending on history filing for divorce or initiating a split up I send them to a gerentoligist for a cognitive assessment. Too many times I have seen the mom of 5 to ten kids or dad the pillar of the community split with spouse and within 18 months noticeable signs of dementia pop up.

Now this is not necessarily the case however I would have been more comfortable if she had filed.

In the outside world, but among Mormon women, it is an honor to be both rich and powerful. Even if they have to compete for love time.

We don’t know this woman or her history. I’ve known Mormons who drink, Jews that eat bacon, Muslims that eat pork chops and drink like fish. It’s their relationship with God not mine. In fact I knew a Mormon who partied and drank and screwed around until she got knocked up, roped the guy into marriage, then became devout. Four beautiful kids but was a toxic marriage. Divorced now. I know her from the guy, I grew up with him. He should’ve married the other gal but neither of them could be faithful back in those days.
The estranged husband should be a suspect.
