US firm sacks close to all Indian employees at one go, ‘decision made in a 3 minute video call’

Sudden layoffs from jobs are tough to process and it gets worse when questions of employees remain unanswered. In one such case, an Indian employee detailed his sudden layoff from a US-based company in a Reddit post which has gone viral. According to the post, the employee was caught off guard by the termination, which took place on October 1, over a three-minute video call.

“It was literally like any other day, woke up at 8:30, logged into work at 9 and saw a calendar invite for 11. It was a mandatory meeting with our COO for all India employees. I joined it at 11, he joined at 11:01, disabled everyone’s cameras and mics, casually let us know that they had “made the difficult decision of letting most of their Indian work force go”,’ the post read. The employee clarified that the layoffs were not performance-based but part of an internal organisational restructuring.

‘No time to prepare’

Sharing the emotional impact of the layoff, the Reddit post further stated that the three-minute video call left Indian employees “shocked, stunned, frustrated, stressed”. “No prior intimation, no time to prepare. They have offered October’s salary to paid at the end of the month and any leaves would be encashed. None of it even remotely makes up for what I’m feeling right now. This is the first time I’ve been laid off and it just truly…sucks,” read the post.

Um, he’s fired. My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw the entire Indian staff laid off Friday. I guess it’s pretty serious.”

Sometimes Management viewed IT people as overpaid clerks. When they got a chance of getting the same people for much less money, they did it. The problem was that the level of support went WAY down. Not only that, the H1B’s would defend their turf against Americans by trying to appear to be the smartest person in the room. So they sounded like they were working when they weren’t.

Luckily, at some point, an H1B will cuss out a VP and the clock starts ticking.

No.

I think the story in the article is fake and I think the website "readit" is mostly fiction.

Articles that rely on Fakeit for anything are bottom of the barrel. The facts are impossible to check.

We can. But it probably isn't. Not yet anyway.

Layoffs often force you to upgrade your life and your career which you wouldn't have staying comfortably in your comfort zone.

I've seen it repeatedly where the company that let someone go either had to hire to or more than one person to replace them or had to hire someone at a much higher salary because the market had shifted over the time period the departed employee had been in the role.

Friend of mine who was a vet and worked Help Desk at an American firm was laid off and his severance package was based on his cross training his replacement in India. About 6 months later their internal customers complained to a point where they brought him back. He’s since been laid off again but now retired.

I have observed again and again, that laid of workers ended up getting a better paying job elsewhere. I stopped feeling sorry for laid off colleagues

“What percentage I wonder will actually leave when their work visa’s expire? Assuming that they don’t find other employment? Overstaying visa’s is one of the most common ways to become an “illegal.””

Great question. I don’t have an answer. Tom Homan has ICE purring along nicely, but I’m sure they are probably still maxed out cleaning up Joe Biden’s open borders disaster. I do think I read something recently where Trump mentioned something about looking at visas, but don’t remember the details.

Welcome to the real world! One time, working on a data warehouse for an insurance company I was called in and told I was being let go. They were going to give me 2 weeks pay with no requirementto hang around. I was literally about a week away from finishing the project, so they let me hang around and finish. I never saw the 2 weeks severance. 10 years later I found out they were still running my software LOL!

--- "My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw the entire Indian staff laid off Friday. I guess it's pretty serious"

Were one to discount all -- really, all -- news and opinion which does not name names, the legacy, Lefty media would have little to sell. Some fake Right media too, most likely. But...

..."on condition of anonymity" "experts says" and "studies show" and .....

The problem with reality for so many today sure seems like we -- I include myself in the plural pronoun -- wish some things were different that they are. The talking heads and clever op-ed writers and all figured that out long ago. But when a fictional world is built "tangible" enough to be seen as fictional, then the game's over.

Discount EVERY anonymous source and the narratives they support, and then ask -- what's left?
