His hand against everyone, And everyone’s hand against him; He shall dwell alongside of all his kin.
Perhaps we all might be interested. Poste them. 😁🤙
One thing I’ve never understood about the Christian need to be friends with Israel. I get it. I grew up in a devout Christian home. Independent fundamentalist Baptist. I know what the Bible says. So say Israel starts war and genocide, not saying they are, Are we supposed to turn our eyes to their atrocities, if any, just because they are the chosen ones? Just asking.
I do not worry about things that aren’t going to happen.............
If God always approved of everything they did He would not have allowed them to go into captivty a fee times, as is biblically recorded.
He still has a plan to use the nation of Israel for His glory.
We are allies with them in much the same way as any other ally. Politicians may occasionally jabber on about religion, but Israel is not outright communist, they are a western liberal democracy in the classical sense.
Wikipedia tells me that Arabic is only about 2000 years old. If Job’s daughters had Arabic sounding names, that does not mean that Job was an Ishmaelite.
Personally, I differentiate biblical Israel from the modern secular state of Israel. As such, they are not much different than any other nation in the world except they are a successful and stable nation surrounded by a bunch of bellicose nations, some of which want the State of Israel destroyed. They are a valuable ally to the US and share many of our values.
From a religious standpoint, I'm feel much closer to the Jewish people themselves in whose spiritual patrimony is shared by Christians. I think Genesis 12:3 is often misquoted and thus misinterpreted, but nonetheless the Jewish people remain close to God and God does still have a place for them in his plans, per Romans 9-11.
I realize this goes against the Pre-millennial Dispensationalist view of things usually put forward in these forums, but I don't mind that they think differently than me as long as their theology is presented in such a way that it is the only view. Most Christians believe differently, but no one of us has a definitive interpretation.
He repented toward the end of his live but the “wild ass” description applies to the nation he founded no to his entire life as an individual. We see that he was well behaved before this when he accompanied Abraham to the Akeida (binding of Isaac).
No the seed of Abraham which took on the Abrahamic blessing is only through Isaac. Scripture says this explicitly multiple times. It is true that Ishmael was blessed to become a very populous and renowned nation.
Shalom. I know you mean well, but really, no thank you.
I have been known to be wild and to be a man.
Torah Judaism acknowledges over and over again that no label covers every last person in a group. There are always exceptional people. As others pointed out, even in his own lifetime, Yishmael had periods of righteousness. There are reports scattered around the Talmud and other sources that many of our nation’s worst enemies, including perpetrators of great slaughters, either repented in their lifetimes or had progeny who became not just Jewish, but great sages. Even from the worst evil can come forth good.
Interesting. I had always thought that Islam originated in the Arabian peninsula, beyond the territory of Edom. Petra is in current day Jordan.
Arabic as we know it today may only be 2.000 years old, but the base language is much older.
We know from the text itself that he was a righteous gentile from what is now Saudi Arabia, which makes him either an Ishmaelite or less likely from the line of Esau, more likely Ishmaelite.
Given his daughters’ names were Proto-Arabic, the consensus is Ishmaelite.
Thanks for the link.
Thankfully Galatians 3:16 clarifies once and for all what “seed” referred to, and did not refer to.
Just teasing you a bit. Heh. Don't take offense. I know you're very strong in your faith, as I am in mine.
FRiends?
Nah. I'm a lousy apologist. There are far more knowledgeable people than I to go to for Biblical learning. And I was just poking JewishRighter a bit, friendly-like.
I am just a sinner saved by Grace.
All of us believers are, just sinners that is, which is why the Lord sent his son to absolve us of our sins if we turn back to the Lord’s teachings. 😁🤙
