Hamburger Helper Sales Rise as Americans Try to Stretch Their Food Dollars
The New York Times ^ | Sept. 20, 2025 | Julie Creswell

In the 1970s, Hamburger Helper became a staple on American dinner tables as families, strained by inflation and soaring beef prices, looked to turn a pound of ground beef into an entire meal.

These days, those same pressures are why the flavored pasta mix is coming to the rescue again.

While most food companies are seeing declines in consumer demand for their products, sales of Hamburger Helper are up 14.5 percent in the year through August, getting an extra bump from its appearance on an episode of “The Bear” in June, according to the company that owns the brand, Eagle Foods.

I base ALL of my stock/bond/holdings investments on what the dog says, LOL!

My dog gave bad advice on how to treat people when meeting them.
The jury didn't believe me.

The food in here is terrible.

More Orange Man Bad propaganda from the Gray Whore.

This is stupid. Hamburger Helper (or something similar) has always been a staple.

Every Gen-Xer remembers meals of "chili Mac" (Mac and cheese + taco-flavored ground beef). Mac and cheese + tuna, mac and cheese + cut up hotdogs, etc. And I'm talking those boxes of Kraft mac and cheese. Hamburger Helper was actually a step up!

And what's the point here? Americans are stretching their food budgets as if we were all eating Filet Mignon during the Biden years?

Jim Varney's mean uncle on how to make do with nothing. (This was miles above any of his 'Ernest' movies.)

But the neediest guy had to be Stephen Wright when he said "Someone gave me a box of powdered water, but I couldn't figure out what to mix it with."

Yum. Industrial chemicals mixed with salt. Nasty stuff.

Though I confess. About once a year I sneak a box of Kraft max and cheese (food product) which is made from the stripped paint off old oil tankers.

You are correct about home economics needing to be taught. I regret not taking it myself.

Silicon Dioxide (anticaking agent)

Sand? Do silicone implants grow? It's rare to see any cake at the beach, so it is highly effective.

One 75 cent round in 308 or 5.56 can put well over 100lbs of ground meat in the freezer. In Texas we get 5 tags per year EACH which means a couple has 10 tags. Then feral hogs have no closed season, no bag or possession limits and no minimum size. All exotics have no season or limits not just ferals. Axis, Stag, Red Deer, Ibex, Aoudad, Bobcat, Coyote,Puma too every one is good eating. If you are worrying about a lb of ground meat you are not applying yourself. Texas and every state has millions of acres of public BLM, National Forest and WMA lands all open to the public in addition to national park lands. Veterans and Gold Star family have unlimited access to all national parks and Fed lands you just have to apply for the permit with your DD214 or proof of Gold Star family membership.

There is three 25+ cubic feet freezers in the steel building full of meat. November opens up white tail rifle season, archery is 7 days from now and it’s already waterfowl season. Meat literally from the sky my new winny SXP and the beagles have put dove in those freezers. Didn’t see any honkers early season closes the 28th hoping for at least one or two in early season.

Mac & Cheese is SUCH a guilty pleasure!

My Mom makes the most AWESOME Corned Beef Casserole - which is basically a box (or two, depending on how many you’re feeding) of M & C made up, then add a can of shredded Corned Beef, a little extra cheddar cheese...pop it in a greased casserole dish and into the oven to heat through for 30 minutes at 350.

To DIE for! Served with a salad, a glass of milk and some homemade crusty bread? Heaven!

It wasn’t so awful growing up poor. I didn’t even KNOW we WERE poor; everyone we knew lived the same way we did. ;)

"When there was no food, my mother would make a pan of cornbread for us three boys, for supper,"

Toss some sliced jalapeno in that corn bread and you've got you somethin'!

Do not use the canning liquid, rinse well and put some balsamic vinegar and other spices on top.
