The FBI published a picture of the potential shooter, but unless it was a short barreled rifle with a folding stock, he wasn’t carrying the rifle in the stairwell which means it was already on the roof.
Since the FBI apparently has video of who was accessing the roof, they should review footage from that day and days prior to see who could be carrying a package that would hold the rifle they found.

Plenty of rifles are made to be broken down quickly. Even Ruger has a 10/22 that breaks down easy.
I’m sure they went back more than a couple days. They always hold info back. Hang on...they might be tailing him for all we know.
It very well might be untraceable.
So, this is the guy who got on the roof, got off the roof, ran to a subdivision and wooded area, all the while carrying a rather large rifle, and nobody saw anything. Yeah. Right. You bet.

Or……it’s a predated video where he scoped out the roof.
That’s probably what the blanket was for...to keep it covered on the roof...in a heap...
It might have been staged in the stairwell, or close to it.
It is possible the stock was separated from the barreled action with the scope. That would have reduced the overall length by maybe a foot.
It does not take long to put action and stock together, but it can affect accuracy if not done just right.
Neither was he carrying it when he was running on the roof after the shooting.

I believe the particular rifle this punk was to have allegedly used is an older rifle that doesn’t break down, like new versions.
That’s what I’ve read from a few posters.

the current consideration is that the gun was put on the roof previously. the gun was found in the woods afterward. not a leap to believe he left the roof after the shooting, and hid the gun in the woods on his way to the neighborhood

Call ne crazy, but if a rifle can be staged on a roof, a rifle can be staged in the woods, to be found after the shooting.
