The FBI published a picture of the potential shooter, but unless it was a short barreled rifle with a folding stock, he wasn’t carrying the rifle in the stairwell which means it was already on the roof.
Since the FBI apparently has video of who was accessing the roof, they should review footage from that day and days prior to see who could be carrying a package that would hold the rifle they found.

If you look at the Google satellite imagery you’ll see lots of brick red areas. Those are walkways, some elevated above ground level to help people get around the crowded urban campus. The best map I’ve seen shows the shooter using one to escape from the Losee Center building. Elevation adds a 3rd dimension to his egress options.

The mauser cannot be broken down
Certainly, much info. has been obtained, apparently including DNA as well as the images we have seen. I’d say the odds the killer is caught (”dead or alive”) are over 80%. If he makes it to a very remote area and has good skills in surviving in such, it might take a while. If he expires in such (say, from cold this winter), that might really extend things.
The killer made a lot of mistakes, so, he may be a skilled shooter, but IMO he’s not a professional assassin.

There seems to be a lot of concern as to how he got the rifle to the roof. I’d like to know how he got an old Mauser from the roof to the woods without being seen.
Over the past couple of years, ANTIFA has formed gun clubs and some have gotten really good at targeting.
Andy Ngo had some info on them recently.
This hit could have been a group of ANTIFA working together to find a location, place the firearm in advance, dispose of the gun afterwards, misdirect the police to incorrect suspects, etc. They could have even placed a decoy gun in the woods to screw with the investigation.
I don’t think Mauser is one suchand they have a Mauser.
I’ve been predicting we’ll see a modern-day version of The Red Army Faction (Baader-Meinhof Gang).
There are cameras all over the building. It is sure that there is video of him every time he entered or went to the roof.
That depends on how much training he has had, whether personally or by videos.
