‘South Park’ creators double down on episode skewering Trump

“South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone had a simple response to the furor the often-controversial show stoked this week with an episode showing President Trump in bed with Satan and making fun of what they depicted as the president’s small genitals.

“We’re terribly sorry,” Parker said Thursday, holding a deadpan stare as the crowd laughed during a panel at Comedy Central’s Comic-Con.

The “South Park” season premiere drew a response from the White House, which said in a statement to The Guardian that the show “hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention.”

“President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history — and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak,” spokesperson Taylor Rogers told the paper.

The premiere of the show’s 27th season also skewered Paramount over its recent decision to settle a lawsuit brought by Trump for $16 million. Paramount received approval Thursday from Trump’s Federal Communications Commission for an $8 billion merger agreement with Skydance.

The “South Park” episode that provoked the White House’s ire aired just days after Parker and Stone reached their own deal with Paramount for the rights to “South Park,” reported by Variety as valued more than $1 billion.

Parker and Stone said they were asked by their producers to blur...

That would not be the lesson.
The lesson is that the ire would not be as popular if the right ignored them, rosey odonnel ? She’d be another forgotten comic from the eighties.
My point is that there is a path to notoriety simply by bashing President Trump, I actually like parker and stone but I haven’t thought nor heard from them till they decided to make Trump a target.Ignore them and they will move on to ridicule someone else.
That’s all of it.

I only saw one episode, the one where they go after Harry and Meghan Markle.

The animation, of course is atrocious, and the name of the “image store” was quite vulgar. That said, the take-of a the Beatles’ “Magical Mystery Tour” with the “Worldwide Privacy Tour” was utterly inspired. As was the “Prince of Canada’s” book title, “Waaaagh!”

I have to admit, the script was exceptional in that it characterized the Markles perfectly (maybe Harry gets let off the hook a bit), but anyone who knew nothingabout these two grifters would be substantially brought up to speed after a 20 minute, poorly animated cartoon. Well-done.

I won’t be watching any more, though.

It’s just a Saturday morning cartoon. Mighty Mouse was my favorite.

I don’t know why people are upset about it. Honestly Trump is kind of weird. He says odd things in an odd way. He has almost no filter. It is part of the reason people like and hate him. Not parodying him would be more odd than not.

I’m not superior or proud of anything. All it takes is a remote and everybody has one of those. Not rocket science.

Ignore them and they will move on to ridicule someone else.

Even if you don't ignore them the public has the attention span of goldfish and won't even remember it next week.

Mighty Mouse was my favorite.

The music in the Terrytoons Mighty Mouse stood out. I seem to remember the mouse leads had operatic voices. Animation, compared to Hanna-Barbara/Filmation made for TV stuff, was very , very good.

I am partial to the early B&W Fleischer Popeye cartoons. I think one of them still holds the crown for "most violent" mainstream cartoon of all time.

IU also remember the distinctive backup vocals that mimicked the sound of a carnival organ. “Doo-doo-Doo-doo”

Compared to Oprah’s Minge the ones you mentioned aren’t gross at all. That episode was a real unfunny gross out. And that’s where I started to lose interest

I gave up on it a long time ago. However, the Jewpacabra episode was funny in that Cartman’s plotting backfired on him. Overall my opinion is that the writing started to decline after season 8

This probably has already been posted, but...

The show went light on Biden during his four years. One of the top dogs of the show — attorney, I think — has been there since Day One. He’s Hunter Biden’s BFF, involved with him financially, etc.

Guess they hit Trump harder. I don’t know since I’ve never even seen five minutes of the show. (Not a fan of animation.)

Trump should have accepted the gag and said he’d never been in bed with Hillary Clinton.

To have a problem with South Park not being EO makes you a snowflake. Grow up. Reality sucks sometimes.

Well a Harris supporter like yourself must love them calling her a Ho. Still doesn’t disprove what I said they changed when Barack got in there. Did they bend the knee with the Mohammad episode yes they did.

South Park bent the knee after the Mohammad fallout they are just reliably lefty anymore. I don’t really care what they do I actually sat through baseketball in the theater. But to say they are anything other than a reliable bunch of lefties anymore is an understatement. To prove my point what was their spin-off show Little Bush. They are terrified to make fun of democrats.
