And someone in the comments says this is so they can "cut deals" with the president or maintain that ability.

@AnnaRMatson
For those wondering why, it’s most likely so they have power to cut deals with Trump.
We saw this with RFK Jr’s confirmation. Many senators held out on their vote until Trump cut a deal (Cassidy and Graham received endorsements in exchange for their yes vote.) With automatic confirmations, senators have less leverage.
They do this all the time, Congress hasn’t had a real recess in years
F-ing stupid
but he can’t make recess appointments if they do this
Sometimes I can barely stand reading the news. It sure would be nice if most Congress critters would have the best interests of the country in mind, not their own best interests.
Get rid of them.
I honestly don’t pay much attention to this. Many of us loved this strategy when McConnell was using it to block Obama’s recess appointments.
TO PREVENT A LEGAL “RECESS” & TO STOP TRUMP FROM MAKING RECESS APPOINTMENTS?
If you are going to block recess appointments then meet and move the confirmation votes forward.
This has been going on for ages. It’s not about Trump. It is about keeping the Executive Branch in check.
Some folks take this stuff so personally.
I call BULLSHIRT on this!
1. Its not true at all.
2. Its true, but Trump and the Republicans are playing 4D chess AGAIN!
If Trump wasn’t “in on it”, this would be a slap in the face to their leader. They wouldn’t do this.
Go back and read 1 & 2.
They are cowards. Terrified of Trump gaining power and disrupting their fiefdoms.
Massie put this out...I'll take a wait and see.
In other news (although there has not yet been any reporting on it, there has been a huge huge win for the Trump Administration with judge dismissing lawsuits challenging President’s supposed “dismantling of USAID.”

This is big big news!
This is what the opposing party does to keep the Prez from making recess appointments.
Trump stands alone.
So the rats have always done this even with a rat president?
Trump should Publicly thank them, because his team can start forming a group that will find candidates to run against Libs and Rinos.
The President has asked the Senate to stay in session and get a few of his nominees appointed.
Thune has NOT said anything yet.
All it would take is for them to disagree on the timing of adjourning and then Trump could force the Senate to do the same thing per Article II, Section 3. So Johnson could force this if he wanted.
“…in Case of Disagreement between [the House and Senate], with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, [the President] may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper.”
Bunch of political hacks wasting our money and time
They do this to prevent the president exercising his executive authority.
It’s petty
Mike the shiv strikes AGAIN .
