@RepThomasMassie

During August recess, Speaker Johnson and Leader Thune plan to call the House and Senate into session every four or five days, with practically no one there, for the sole purpose of preventing Trump from making recess appointments. Here was today’s House “pro-forma” session...

Wow. This is interesting isn't it, Freepers?

And someone in the comments says this is so they can "cut deals" with the president or maintain that ability.

@AnnaRMatson

For those wondering why, it’s most likely so they have power to cut deals with Trump.

We saw this with RFK Jr’s confirmation. Many senators held out on their vote until Trump cut a deal (Cassidy and Graham received endorsements in exchange for their yes vote.) With automatic confirmations, senators have less leverage.

Sometimes I can barely stand reading the news. It sure would be nice if most Congress critters would have the best interests of the country in mind, not their own best interests.

Congress should be forced to return to their districts for extended periods of time to actually talk to the people they represent. Once in DC, they only seem to represent themselves. If anyone else is helped, it’s just by coincidence. Their main job is to get reelected.

Congress is completely corrupt. I never was a fan of Mister Peepers. And Thune is a permanent member of the Larry Craig toe-tapper caucus.

I honestly don’t pay much attention to this. Many of us loved this strategy when McConnell was using it to block Obama’s recess appointments.

“Many of us loved this strategy when McConnell was using it to block Obama’s recess appointments.”

Why would Republican Senators block the Republican President?

Unless they are really just democrats.

If you are going to block recess appointments then meet and move the confirmation votes forward.

Anyone know if Ben Black son of Leon Black has been confirmed? I keep seeing mixed messaging on this.

It looks to me that DFC may be the new slush fund.

This has been going on for ages. It’s not about Trump. It is about keeping the Executive Branch in check.

Some folks take this stuff so personally.

“But in Camelot, Camelot
That’s how conditions are.
The rain may never fall till after sundown.
By eight, the morning fog must disappear.
In short, there’s simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering than here
In Camelot.”

Power. The amount of power aggrandizement is staggering. Even at the local level I see it. Most are very comfortable with it. They believe that the more personal power they have the better off the world is.

Certainly in my little corner of the world inappropriate as much power as I can. I am convinced I do it for good too.

I call BULLSHIRT on this!

1. Its not true at all.

2. Its true, but Trump and the Republicans are playing 4D chess AGAIN!

If Trump wasn’t “in on it”, this would be a slap in the face to their leader. They wouldn’t do this.

Go back and read 1 & 2.
