JUST IN: Ken Paxton’s Wife Announces Divorce in Shock Statement — Citing ‘Recent Discoveries’

Texas State Sen. Angela Paxton (R) announced on Thursday that she has filed for divorce from her husband, Texas Attorney General and Senate candidate Ken Paxton (R) after “recent discoveries.”

“Today, after 38 years of marriage, I filed for divorce on biblical grounds. I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation. But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage,” Angela Paxton wrote on X. “I move forward with complete confidence that God is always working everything together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose.”

Paxton said she filed for divorce on “biblical grounds,” which would primarily refer to adultery or abandonment.

The Texas Attorney General released his own statement, pointing blame at “countless political attacks and public scrutiny.”

“After facing the pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny, Angela and I have decided to start a new chapter in our lives,” he wrote. “I could not be any more proud or grateful for the incredible family that God has blessed us with, and I remain committed to supporting our amazing children and grandchildren. I ask for your prayers and privacy at this time.”

Ken Paxton is currently running for U.S. Senate for the seat held by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX). Paxton was elected attorney general in 2015. In 2023, the Texas House of Representatives impeached him over corruption allegations. He was later acquitted by the state Senate where his wife did not participate in a vote, though she attended the Senate trial.

Paxton was accused of using his position to help a real estate developer and he was also accused of an extramarital affair at the time.

KUT News out of Austin, Texas reported on Thursday that they obtained a copy of Angela Paxton’s divorce filing and it accuses her husband adultery and reveals they stopped living together in 2024.

“The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities between Petitioner and Respondent that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation,” reads the petition, according to the report.

“Maybe they decided to divorce while touring Israel.”

No, no, no, Paxton is a Baylor alum and biblical grounds is the name of the coffee shop on campus.

Why? Not sure why this would have any affect on his political career.

Indeed - adultery is very conservative. And people should be forced to stay in a marriage where the covenant was broken - she should have concealed this to show what good character he has. Shame on her for believing a spouse should be faithful! He’s obviously the victim here - how dare a wife not approve of infidelity! What is the world coming to? < / s >

That was such a red herring...they, the parties to the divorce, agreed to have the records sealed per the terms of the divorce. The media was not a party to that agreement...how did they have a right to undo that agreement?

The timing speaks volumes about her.

Imagine claiming the person who was unfaithful is the victim and the person on the receiving end of the infidelity is the the one in the wrong. Are you people mad?

The primary isn't for a year...should she have waited until closer to the primary when people would actually remember it?

This will only have a negligible impact on the primary as this will be long out of memory by then by being announced at this point...also does away with any lingering gossip as to why the divorce occurred.

If it is just straight up adultery, better to get it out now month before the primary. Paxton will have to face the music and show that he is still better than the opposition. Much better now, than two weeks before the primary.

If she said nothing, but quietly filed, it would still come out. They are conservative Baptists, and their religion permits divorce. It is better to work this out. This is a VERY difficult world to keep a marriage together in. I imagine that politicians have groupies at that level, just as professional hockey players and rock band musicians do.

It is not excusing him, and when a marriage bond is attempted to be broken, it necessarily has a public dimension to it. He should repent. They should quietly work things out as best they can, even if it means living apart. He can be called onto the carpet by voters for infidelity, but we do not need to know the details.

“Ken is done.”

Certainly, because all married men are so busy observing and complying with the Seventh Commandment. And, it is of unheard for a politician to breach that law.

“I want every semblance of Bush/Cornyn OUT of Texas politics!!!”

Paxton is good on policy, but the guy has so much baggage he is just a bad candidate. Securities fraud was bad. This is bad. We have a ton of great option in Texas. Get Dan Patrick to run, or for someone young, how about Brandon Gill or Craig Goldman? Last think we need is to lose a Texas senate seat because we get a goofball in the primary.

I hear you, but the trial was technically "old news: I read the following:

“After facing the pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny,

...as her not wanting to be looked at rudely at the store, or at the remaining parties she's invited to, etc. Maybe you are right. But she's doing this now, and not 2024. Texas is a joke anyway. The left is going full guns blazing, meanwhile the "right" are cowardly backstabbers going full retard, to match their citizens.

If you were managing a political campaign and you had strong evidence that your opponent committed adultery, would you use that against them?

Maybe she discovered that she’s more loyal to the RINO cabal than to her husband and his Trumpian ways.

Here we go, Guy follows little head to his demise.

Maybe it's time for men to stop blaming everyone else and start accepting the challenge of stopping this behavior.

He was [fill in the blank]-ing Laura Olsen, a woman he got one of his cronies to hire so she could be in Austin. His attorney never denied it during his impeachment trial, nor did Paxton.

I found this:

"Olson has been married and divorced four times, according to Bexar County, Texas, public records."

I think the opportunity was there, she is GOPe herself, and it is likely that she has been promised some form of gain, likely political, to make this messy.
