A new study argues that the large majority of American Jews have a deep-seated notion that being Jewish is inextricably bound to being liberal.
That idea took hold after the large waves of Jewish immigration to the US in the late 19th century, according to the study’s author, American history professor Gil Troy.
American Jewish liberalism and association with the Democratic party is showing no signs of abatement, despite many predictions to the contrary since Ronald Reagan’s presidency, according to Troy’s research, which is being published by the Ruderman Family Foundation's Program for American Jewish Studies at the University of Haifa.

“US Jews contribute half of all donations to the Democratic Party”
Does that mean that
A) Half of Jewish donations went to the Democratic party?
Or,
B) Half of all donations to the Democratic party came from US Jews?
As far as I can tell, the quote could have meant A or it could have meant B. I’m simply trying to use English and logic without inserting any prior belief.
The two interpretations are not the same. Interpretation A would be consistent with 5% of donations to the Democratic party come from Jewish Americans.
I’ve got a Jewish atheist at work who is a Trump supporter, but I despise the guy.
I think most of us from our knowledge of history and from general reading are under the impression that it is always basically the same, sort of universal.

Ah, the joy of the uniqueness of people. Even the worst can have SOME redeeming feature. Usually. Sometimes. We hope.
But it should be in the Bill of Rights that we also have the right to despise individuals. We each come to our meeting place down separate paths and they affect the way we see the other person. Though it seems to be a truism, to me, that opinions are frequently reciprocal. I expect someone of whom I have a negative opinion to have a similarly negative opinion of me. And the nice thing about that, is it means you really don’t have to care what they think.
I just try to avoid the guy, which is not always possible. C’est la vie.

I’m fine with people paying their own way. That’s a choice they can make as adults. What I’m NOT fine with is if they try forcing that choice on anyone else, or on any child. Give your own money to society, if you want, but don’t make society give you theirs.

Minnesota is a fine place. But Minneapolistasn should be avoided.
Nothing surprising or shocking here. Since the late 60s (and even more so since the 90s), the Democrats have relied on Jewish money and black votes to stay afloat.

Liberal Democrats were mostly pro-Israel until the 1990s or early 2000s, when the Left added “Islamophobia” to its list of alleged deadly sins and the US left’s opinions moved in favor of Arabs in the Middle East. At that point, Jewish liberals had to choose between their support for Israel and their support for socially radical causes, and many chose the latter.
The phrase was used, and maybe coined, by conservative lawyer activist columnist Debbie Schlussel. Her columns were once a regular feature online, but I haven’t seen anything by her recently.
