A new study argues that the large majority of American Jews have a deep-seated notion that being Jewish is inextricably bound to being liberal.
That idea took hold after the large waves of Jewish immigration to the US in the late 19th century, according to the study’s author, American history professor Gil Troy.
American Jewish liberalism and association with the Democratic party is showing no signs of abatement, despite many predictions to the contrary since Ronald Reagan’s presidency, according to Troy’s research, which is being published by the Ruderman Family Foundation's Program for American Jewish Studies at the University of Haifa.

I spent a summer at Washington University in St. Louis MO. I was told that Wash U. was where Jews went to get away from Jews.

Not in my experience. Never met any who were anti-Christian. Most couldn’t care less about someone else’s religion. That’s the Christians’ business - their culture - and nothing to do with them.
I was raised in a majority Jewish neighborhood, attended Catholic high school, and a majority Jewish university. Never met an ANTI-Christian in all that time. In the last couple decades I’m more in contact with Christians and have been exposed to a lot of Christian bigots, but never the other way around. If I were in my old stomping grounds, I’m not saying I wouldn’t meet some today, but I think it’s more likely I’d meet anti-Republicans than anti-Christians.

True. Here in Florida Jews voted overwhelmingly for Andrew Gillum after he campaigned against Jews in the primary.
My guess is that many/most Vietnamese and Chinese fled communism so they don’t want that crap in the USA (same case as Cuban immigrants). On the other hand, those other Asians fled capitalism. The Philippines, India, and S. Korea are much less “liberal” than the USA. If anything, they are right-wing nationalist.
Over many decades I’ve had many decent, likeable jewish friends, coworkers, supervisors, doctors, etc. As far as politically conservative, for sure I can think of only one...one. But he was a fellow Air Force officer and WW2 air combat veteran. Also had a casual aquaintance on a civilian pistol team who was an ardent gunmman. In more recent times I’ve met some Israeli IDF types who seemed pretty solid.
The Schumers, Nadlers, Goldmans, Cohens, Feinsteins etc of the world because of their obnoxious and repullsive higb profile tend to give all jews a bad name. It boils down to taking and assessing everyone as they come on a person by person basis.

The book Why Are Jews Liberal by Norman Podhoretz (”neoconservative”-—publisher says) never really got to the bottom of the question. A better book is needed. Plodding prose, by the way.

Her father had converted from Judaism and become a Baptist pastor. (Beside the point, but she was such a great pianist.)
I’m interested in the Jewish political efforts in all formerly Christian nations, are they all unique and totally different or are they all pretty much the same as what we have seen in American history?
Far beyond my expertise.
