The year 1973 was full of change and entirely groovy. The U.S. pulled out of Vietnam, Roe v. Wade shook up the courts, and gas lines stretched for blocks as the oil crisis took hold. On the flip side, bell-bottoms were in full swing, Pink Floyd dropped “The Dark Side of the Moon,” and a little horse named Secretariat ran straight into the history books. These 1973 photos represent how electric the year was.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
It was a significant year for me. In some ways it seems like forever ago and other ways it’s hard to believe it was that long ago.
I was 5 in ‘73. Great cartoons, and we lived in Ft. Lauderdale. I was a feral suburban kid, the youngest of 5. I walked to and from school on my own, could walk to the store, and the cartoons were BRILLIANT.
I do remember carpet in one of the bathrooms in the house we had in Stuart. It was lime green.
Grandma had paneling everywhere.
That Penney’s catalog pic is a scream. lol
Funny part is I still have a JCPenney open near me
Yup. me too
Vintage?
The year I graduated high school.
I never really thought the era was about anything except a bunch of people too focused on themselves.
Let’s not forget Disco 🪩
78? I was married with a baby and lived in a trailer. Good times!
Fun
This has an agenda. I do not remember seeing women with a tattoos except at a carnival freak show. Not one. Never saw a electric car in the 70s, ever.
Let’s not forget Disco”
I’m trying to.
Burger, fries and a shake $0.89 🤩
Ha
I love shag carpet - love it to this day. Beats the generic, flat "oatmeal" that everyone seems to have these days, or noisy wooden floors which I hate even more.
Love the one of Robert Plant and the dove!
Modern design is too clean
Makes a great sponge in the bathroom too.
