If someone uses big words to sound smart, they’re probably not. If someone speaks in clichés, they might be lacking original thought.

Understanding human communication isn’t always simple.

In fact, navigating the labyrinth of human conversation requires more than just a good ear. It also requires an understanding of certain speech patterns and phrases.

Now, some folks have a knack for this. They can hear a few words and immediately gauge the intelligence of the speaker.

In this article, let’s delve into 8 phrases that, more often than not, are used by people with below-average intelligence in everyday conversation.

They trod in sin. christ saw the good in them despite their sin. That is the grey area to me. He forgave.

Are you saying that’s not what needs to be done?

It seems to me it’s concise. It does not address the ease or difficulty of the task, which I think is what you’re getting at.

“For all intensive purposes”
“At the pintacle”
“Supposably”
”Things of that nature”
”Circle back”
”It is what it is”
”Irregardless”
”Why can’t we” when I’m doing the work, not anyone else.

Thank God that only after a month of retirement, those are all (#4?) I can remember right now. I hated meetings. If I want to hear those, I’ll watch ESPN.

Those 8 are not phrases, they are descriptives.

“For all intensive purposes”

Especially since it’s “For all intents and purposes.”

I should have used “[sic]” after most of those quotes.

I’ve been watching videos lately on how to detect whether an AI wrote an article.

It’s kind of weird, because I use in my writing some of the things they say are ‘red flags’ - like the ‘em dash’, which I usually just type as a hyphen; I use it a lot; and I’m not an AI.

There are many videos like this out there, a lot of them aiming to aid schoolteachers in verifying that a student actually wrote a paper, essay, etc.:

Sometimes if a snob talks down to me and uses some big words I will ask them if they are a sesquipedalian. They don’t know what to say.

Profanity is the effect of a feeble mind trying to express itself forcibly. That definition is worth saving.

I use it occasionally. One year I made a resolution to quit using the word, that lasted about a week.

Hillary, aka the Hildebeast is a “ya know?” artist.

Unfortunately, so is Dr Larry Arn of Hillsdale College. I can’t believe he doesn’t have a friend close enough to counsel him.
