ANCHORAGE, Alaska — For the first time ever, parts of Alaska will be under a heat advisory — but you can put an asterisk at the end of that term.
It's not the first instance of unusually high temperatures in what many consider the nation's coldest state, but the National Weather Service only recently allowed for heat advisories to be issued there. Information on similarly warm weather conditions previously came in the form of "special weather statements."
Using the heat advisory label could help people better understand the weather's severity and potential danger, something a nondescript "special weather statement" didn't convey.
The first advisory is for Sunday in Fairbanks, where temperatures are expected to top 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Fairbanks has been warmer in the past, but this is unusual for June, officials said.

Very hard to believe that.
The predicted high today in Seattle is 69 F - one degree below normal.
The low last night was 52 F - one degree below normal.
Official Seattle temps come from SeaTac Airport.
The real temp in downtown Seattle is ALWAYS 1 to 3 degrees F below SeaTac.
When I lived in AK, I’d get better sun tans in Fairbanks than in HI. August was really good.
Global warming cult members showing they are every bit as fanatical as Japanese holdouts in WW-II.
Why no articles on the high in minneapolis was 58f yesterday? Does the news only report high temps?
We get heat advisories in California all the time. They tell us to drink lots of water and stay indoors as much as possible. I would never think of that on my own. I would just go out jogging in the afternoons and not drink any water at all. Thank goodness we have the government to help us be safe.
Well, my friend from Corpus Christi always maintained that once Alaska thaws out, the largest state in the union will once again be TEXAS!
Back in the seventies weather jockeys in California would talk about how nice the summer temperatures were and then poof AGW theory destroyed their profession.
Going to be warm in Israel and Iran for a while..
When I was 17, my parents sent me to Anchorage for the summer to stay with my Mom’s brother and family. My uncle moved to Alaska in the mid 1960’s after the earthquake. He was a surveyor for the state of Alaska. This was my first ride on an airliner. Flew alone from SFO to Anchorage with a stopover in Seattle. I had flown only in my Dad’s 1963 Cessna 150 and a Citabria before that.
I was in Anchorage for 6 weeks. Loved it. Anchorage has bike trails all over the city and rode a bike all over town. We went to Denali, Kenai, the Homer Spit, and fished for salmon. Temperature reached 80 degrees at least one day I was there.
This was the second trip to Alaska. My family drove from Northern California to Anchorage when I was 8 years old in the early 1970’s. My sisters were 10 and 12 at the time. 5 of us in a 1963 Dodge 4 door pickup, a 19’ Prowler trailer, and several spare tires in the back of the truck. 1500 mile Alcan Highway was gravel and average speed was about 25. Lots of mosquitoes.
Thanks for sharing!

Familiar w the area. 80s not unusual, now or historically. May and June need AC there, as it is inland. 80 is desired and usual near the solstice on June 20-21.
Checked w persons in FB. A photo from around 8:30 am there is here, on the Arctic Cam at the Fairbanks Daily Newsminer.

Note the regular waves in the upper right corner of the photo, that is the signature of electromagnetic weather modification. Obviously some entity wanted sky cover, rain, thunder lightning, hail, or some other nonsummer weather.
Many praying persons in the area, so that is now gone and source indicates sky is clear.
well something is surely whacko...
this is the first year that I remember not having my furnace shut off for the summer here in SE Michigan. For as long as I can remember, the beginning of, of by mid-May latest, I completely shut off my furnace and the gas to it. but this year, its still dropping to low 50s-high 40s at night!!
Did the poles shift or something!??
Fairbanks is a city - right?
Otherwise known as a ‘Heat Island’
The older a city gets, the more asphalt and heat absorbing construction takes place.
Not a surprise...
“Who needs a heat warning at 85?!?”
Government Global Warming nuts who fear Trump chopping their jobs. They are stirring up more hysteria to try to keep their jobs.
So it’s no that those temperatures have never been seen, it’s just that propagandists have decided that that’s suddenly a crisis.
Well, per article they just got authorized to issue heat advisories for Alaska, so they want to take that authority for a test drive
They see another opportunity to fearmonger.
Correct and sun cycles ignored 12 years near earth 12 years far from earth.
The left never let facts get in the way of an agenda.
And the self-described “experts” wonder why no one takes them seriously.
