We either go bankrupt or we go to subscription only or we need to get busy today.
Your quote was Jesus prventing men from stoning a woman to death.
The stakes for her were much more severe than hurt fee-fees on an internet forum.
I distinguish taunting and insults from pointing out evil behavior. The second you can call out. The first is just not Christ like or in His image.
Trolls do not respond to reason, for their whole intent is to take over a thread or a forum, and/or to sidetrack.
Ridicule and insults help identify them so others know better than to take them seriously.
It breaks the spell of “good faith” they cast about themselves.
I disagree with your assertion. First, like so many other pejoratives, ‘troll’ can have many meanings. Second, trolling for trolls by ridicule and insult is still not polite or Christ like behavior.
I dont want to infer anything incorrectly from your post. So please speak clearly. Who are you insinuating is the troll here?
I wasn’t insinuating anyone here is a troll; I was pointing out that I disagree with your bromides about how to treat them.
As Dilbert says, “Everyone is someone else’s weirdo.”
But there are certain posters who reliably post on behalf of nation X, Y, or Z; or againsts nation X, Y, or Z: and respond to anyone who disagrees by saying that they must be paid agents of nefarious leader X’ or Y’.
Or you have people who are constantly dragging and dooming on Donald Trump.
Or those who are constantly pushing in favor of the COVID shots and proclaiming that anyone of any stripe who raises objections or reservations, that they are grifters and/or “anti-science.”
There are probably other trolls, but those are the ones I run across most often.
bromides: a trite and unoriginal idea or remark, typically intended to soothe or placate.
Sorry, I did have to look that up. And I generally do try to soothe. Maybe not so much placate.
If by that you mean you prefer a more confrontational approach, thats ok. You can be you. And I’d be guilty of that approach at times as well. But I make efforts not to go looking for a confrontation where its not warranted. By that I mean if I say or do nothing, nobody is the worse.
That’s such a strong, faithful, encouraging testimony, Jim. Thank you.
