In 1994, Californians passed Proposition 187, which would cut off state services for illegal aliens. One of the reasons it passed was that opponents stood on street corners and freeway overpasses waving Mexican flags, which motivated conservatives to go to the polls and even infuriated liberals. Two of my loved ones who were lifelong liberal democrats voted for the measure beccause of the Mexican flags.
Sadly, the proposition was overturned by a court, and neither our RINO governor Petie Wilson nor any of his successors chose to challenge the court's decision.

Yes, and sadly, Scotus previously ruled that localities must provide public education for illegal alien children.

IMHO,
Many Mexican Americans are expressing pride in their heritage and culture and I do not think they intend to convey the message they are.
What they do not realize, is that appears as having split loyalties. Many people, me included, do not respect hyphenated Americans.
Many people will think to themselves: “why the F are you here if you like Mexico so much?”
Waiving a foreign flag when disagreeing with a government and in protest, isn’t the smart thing to do.
If I go to the Red Square and scream how they are all screwed up and wrong because of the Ukraine war and waive the US flag, how many seconds do you think I’ll last?
If I go to Buckingham Palace and scream obscenities while waiving the Scottish flag, how long do you think I’ll last?
You just don’t do that.
And I don’t think they get that.
