Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, has been a topic in the news a lot recently, yet the complex neurological condition remains widely misunderstood.
Autism is a difference in how someone’s brain works that shapes how they interact with the world. Clinically, it’s a disorder that affects brain development and causes social communication and behavioral differences. With such a wide range of traits, autism truly is a spectrum. Gaining a deeper understanding of these nuances is key. We address some common myths and offer guidance on supporting children and families after a diagnosis.
What causes autism?
There is no single known cause of autism. Given its complexity and the wide range of symptoms, it’s likely that multiple factors contribute. This neurodevelopmental difference is something children are born with — it has nothing to do with parenting style, vaccines or foods.

Well, some things you get cool cred and special rights, like being transgender.
Hidden in the deets is also the mention of delayed parenthood (in other words- aging eggs)
Wonder the average age of parents with autistic children. I hope this isn’t the case, certainly there was not an awareness of this potential.
As things stand right now, there are a lot of advantages to being an official member of a protected class. The money and pervasive double standards aside, there is the intangible benefit of knowing you will be supported in refusing to accept responsibility for any area in which you fall short of the mark.
Some people are wired a bit differently. And that’s ok. They are who they are. But they have an issue to learn to manage, and making excuses is counterproductive. Own who you area. If the problem is something you can change, work on it. If it’s not, accept it, live within your limits, and make the best of what you do have.
But we’re not teaching people to cope, adapt and be comfortable in their own skins. We’re teaching them to regard themselves as perpetual victims, and victims need scapegoats. Parents, teachers, pastors, and society at large used to teach kids that life isn’t fair. Today the indoctrination is that fairness, meaning equality of outcomes, is an entitlement.
Most of the article is just blah blah blah. The part about “updated diagnostic criteria” is a key. Successive editions of the DSM have broadened the scope of the diagnosis. Kids who used to be called something else are now being given the “spectrum” diagnosis. That’s why other disorders have decreased, while spectrum dx has increased. Or one major reason, at any rate. The vaccine link remains dubious, since it began with a documented scam in UK between a quack doctor and shyster injury lawyer.
Then don’t.
Seriously: By hinting at a “cause”, you’re hinting that the supposed “rise” in “autism” “spectrum” isn’t a load of hooey.
I’m glad to be an old fart, these days, and not a kid in school. I’d probably be “diagnosed” with some or other “disorder” so as to keep the government money flowing.
In modern, effeminate, democRAT-run America, being a "victim" is cool; you get all kinds of folks falling over themselves to "help" you in (and KEEP you in) your "plight".
And your comment is kinda funny coming from a guy who identifies himself as "BipolarBob".
Well, no doubt some of it s the different standard, but they need to see if there is a rise on apples to apples basis.
What?????
You’re suggesting that “they” do some actual SCIENCE?????
How DARE you!!!

Let me guess - no citation to medical literature or double blind studies.
Don’t forget fluoride.
AND a tagline indicating an alcoholism problem. Just trolling to see who's awake.
“3 Common Myths to Ignore”
“This is what you will not be allowed to believe.”
Its the vaxx. 🤐
Prove it.
“Let me guess - no citation to medical literature or double blind studies.”
Come on. The authors are two women and a minority to boot. How can you not just trust these experts when they wave their expert wand?
I think their could be multiple factors. One word never used anymore is eccentric.
Having kids later in life.
Prove me wrong. 😉
Wrong answer.
You made an assertion of fact; you bear the burden of proof. I make no claim one way or the other; at most I doubt your assertion, as I have seen no evidence to support it.
So, I say again:
Prove it.
The rise is primarily due to the fact that you can get a government entitlement check if your kid is diagnosed with autism.
I’ve heard several places that there was only evidence that vaccines caused autism in boys who are back, no other group. Make of that what you will. Perhaps we need a lot more testing.
