Welp, it looks like Trump is going to reopen Alcatraz.
This dude's not messing around. He wants to send our worst criminals out to "The Rock" in the San Francisco Bay.
Here's Trump:
If you've ever visited Alcatraz you know how epic this is.
I'll give you some details on Alcatraz. But first, just look at the place:
Good luck escaping that! Here's why they originally opened the former military prison to U.S. prisoners (notice the similarities to Trump's reasoning):
The Federal Government had decided to open a maximum-security, minimum-privilege penitentiary to deal with the most incorrigible inmates in Federal prisons, and to show the law-abiding public that the Federal Government was serious about stopping the rampant crime of the 1920s and 1930s.
Prisoners such as Al Capone, "Machine-Gun" Kelly, Arthur "Doc" Barker, Robert Stroud, and Alvin Karpis have served time at Alcatraz.
And it's one of the most inescapable prisons on the planet.
Sure, you can get out, but how are you going to get to shore through those gnarly currents?
More info on the prison:
Now a major historical landmark and tourist destination, Alcatraz was once one of the most heavily fortified military sites on the West Coast before it transformed into a notorious federal penitentiary in 1934.
As a maximum-security prison surrounded by the Pacific's strong, cold currents, Alcatraz had a reputation for being a ‘last resort' facility where the most dangerous and most unruly in other prisons were sent. It was virtually impossible to escape, despite numerous storied attempts.
Trump has ordered the reopening of Alcatraz.
And now we have like 3.5 seconds before a judge overturns this decision.
“Alcatraz is a crumbling wreck. It will cost far more to construct a functioning prison there than starting from scratch in a desolate area in the middle of California.”
Of course you’re right, BUT your from-scratch prison in a desolate area will never be an icon like Alcatraz is.
Anyone that’s ever toured the Rock knows this will never happen. Let it remain the charming tourist attraction that everybody knows and loves.
I might have to find that book.
QM’s Streets Of San Francisco episode “Letters From The Grave” used the renovation of Alcatraz as part of the show. Shows some of the interiors.
One of my favorites from the series.

All that travel time saved for his democratic critics...and dinner in san fran!!!
They are going to live him now. El Salvador was hard!
Amazon drone, picks you up on the shore....delivers you...
J6 judges and prosecutors could test it out.
A good read: “Alcatraz from Inside”, Jim Quillen author. Inmate number 586.
I don’t think the government owns it any longer
The intention is for the left to complain. Notice how silent the rats are about this? It’s because they believe it won’t be built. What many of you are forgetting is that Trump is one of the best construction project managers on the planet. If he says Alcatraz can be rebuilt, I believe him. It only would our it be built, but it will be a beautiful prison. He has 60 years of experience doing this.
Why it is old and out-dated. Could probably build a supermax for less than renovating.
The government always owns everything..............
“Prisoners such as Al Capone, “Machine-Gun” Kelly, Arthur “Doc” Barker, Robert Stroud, and Alvin Karpis have served time at Alcatraz.”
Don’t forget Clint Eastwood! /s
Yeah, but he escaped.
Well, Red Badger, we still live in a (relatively) free market economy.
There is a wage level that would attract necessary staff in numbers needed.
Time for creative thinking...
It will take more years to build the all-new prison once the foundation is adequate. And cost many billions of dollars. Redoing Alcatraz will be the greatest California boondoggle since the Bakersfield train to nowhere.
It will cost billions.
“What is “whelp”?”
You’re a Yankee aren’t you? Or a Californian. Same thing.
“I thought it was sacred Native American land, or something.”
I was stationed at NAS Alameda in 69’. The Indians had taken the place over and had painted ‘F*** you white man’ on the roof.
After this suggestion is roundly criticized, the alternatives (like on an Alaskan island, in Death Valley, etc.) will be considered reasonable.
If PDJT had suggested a prison on an Alaskan Island or Death Valley first, THAT idea would have been shot down and DOA.
I suggest we call the new prison on the Alaskan island Alcatraz II.
