The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said Devillez was bleeding heavily from several gunshot wounds in their chest. Use of the pronoun "their" leads me to believe this might be a man who "identifies" as a woman.
Can't be sure which "gender" it is from the photo.

She’s lucky to be alive.
Hopefully someday, when the drugs and/or stupidity leaves her head, she realizes what an idiot she was and thanks the officer for not killing her.
If I had to guess, based on the write up, the officers involved tried to not kill her.

According to court records, she was charged with seven felonies in November, including attempted murder, battery and criminal confinement in Lawrence County, Indiana. I think this counts as "active in the community."
