A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the Trump Administration to rehire Voice of America (VOA) and other affiliate news services staff.
President Trump placed employees and contractors for government-funded Voice of America on leave last month.
US District Judge Royce Lamberth, a Reagan appointee, said Voice of America is funded by Congress and Trump’s cuts to the agency are “a direct affront to the power of the legislative branch.”

He us Familiar
On July 16, 2009, Judge Lamberth dismissed a lawsuit filed in 1996 against former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton.[4] The case involved the Clinton White House’s handling of FBI background records when the Clinton Administration was under investigation for firing White House travel office employees.[4] White House staffers under Clinton acknowledged in an affidavit that they sought and received the FBI files of hundreds of prominent Republicans

Royce Lamberth was once a very good judge
He is now well into his 80s and part of the Washington establishment
When John Bolton wanted to publish a book based on memoirs, the Trump administration declined to approve it based on conversations subject to executive privilege. The judge allowed that to proceed. Also, he was a complete asshole in his treatment of the January 6 hostages.
Do we have a president or are we ruled by federal judges?
Roberts is salivating over his executive powers in the Constitution.
Hey, I’m sure Congre$$ will address this problem right after their Summer vacation.
It appears at this moment, that every single time Trump takes an action, any of something like 1100 federal judges can overrule him nationwide with no consequences. So essentially, it appears we have a super Congress of 1100 people who are not elected, who feel they can override Congress or the president on every single issue.
Dick Cheney was also a Reagan appointment.
Individual employees of VOA are NOT funded by INDIVIDUAL NAME by Congress. That is a crap argument. The President decides who is hired and fired through his appointed agency department heads.
This judicial interference is unlawful and will be overturned upon appeal. Judges have no power to say who is hired or fired in the executive branch nor do they have the power to demand ANY federal employee by paid in ANY amount.
The President can just ignore the judge and there is nothing the judge can do about it.
This is an unconstitutional violation of the Article II powers of the President who is the head of the executive branch.
Go pound sand..
They can override the President on military matters, immigration matters, terrorist matters, climate matters, energy matters, firing employees, financial matters, etc!
They are now all powerful. Is there anything the President can override them on? I guess not. WOW!
Lamberth is a David Souter clone. He always rules left. Great job, Ronnie.
Dear Federal Judges, go to hell. Seriously. Go!
This called running the Executive Branch by the Judiciary. We need the US Supreme Court to reign in this breach of the Constitution. Immediately!
Executive:
+May veto laws.
+Vice president presides over the Senate.
+Wages war at the direction of Congress.
+Makes decrees or declarations (for example, declaring a state of emergency) and promulgates lawful regulations and executive orders.
+Influences other branches of its agenda with the State of the Union address.
+Appoints federal judges, executive department heads, ambassadors, and various other officers.
+Has power to grant pardons to convicted persons.
+Executes and enforces the law.
Judicial:
+Determines which laws Congress intended to apply to any given case.
+Determines whether a law is unconstitutional or constitutional. (The power of judicial review is not expressly granted in the Constitution, but was held by the judiciary to be implicit in the constitutional structure in Marbury v. Madison (1803)).
+Determines how Congress meant the law to apply to disputes.
+Determines how a law acts to determine the disposition of prisoners.
+Determines how a law acts to compel testimony and the production of evidence.
+Determines how laws should be interpreted to assure uniform policies in a top-down fashion via the appeals process, but gives discretion in individual cases to low-level judges (The amount of discretion depends upon the standard of review, determined by the type of case in question).
+Polices its own members.
Congress allocates money and the president spends or doesn't spend the money allocated.
How about “No.”
Is this funding on a “must spend every dollar” basis, or a do not exceed basis?
Every damn agency is funded by Congress. Downsizing is a legitimate way of cutting the government down to size.
