One of the last famous artists who could paint in a realistic fashion. After him, art was based on fooling the intelligencia into thinking that the artist had something important to say with his paint splotches.

My folks were artists so they had some very very artsy friends.

I sometimes thought the artists spent more time thinking of a catchy title than actually working on the painting.

I prefer the ‘scandalous’ versions of Madame X, with her shoulder strap falling down or missing.

Borges; He was an incredible portrait artist but he also painted scenes of WWI soldiers.

I cried when I finished his biography. I love this artist that much. It was a great book about a wonderful life.

My favorite is the portrait of Lord Ribblesdale in his riding outfit.
