AUSTIN, TX — In a landmark move for the state, the Texas legislature overwhelmingly passed a bill to ban the sale of assault rifles that have a capacity of less than 30 rounds.
Governor Greg Abbott was expected to sign the bill into law as soon as it hits his desk, limiting Texas gun owners to purchasing assault rifles with copious round capacities.
"It's dangerous to have assault rifles in our community that can't fire more than 30 rounds before reloading," said Texas state senator Billy McCoy, who co-authored the bill. "It's irresponsible, and we can't let it keep happening."
Passing the bill wasn't easy. Democrat and Republican legislators frequently butted heads on the exact nature of the bill, with Republicans initially wanting to ban assault rifles with a capacity of less than 100 rounds and eventually being forced to compromise. Still, some Republicans referred to the "Spray-And-Pray" bill as merely a stop-gap measure.
"Requiring at least a 30-round capacity for assault weapons is a good start, but there's more work to do," said State Representative Wyatt Hollis. "What if the Mexicans attacked the Alamo again? We'd never be able to defend it unless we had at least 100 rounds per magazine. Texans deserve more than these half-measures."
At publishing time, Texas lawmakers had introduced another bill that, if passed, would make it mandatory for gun carriers to yell "Yee Haw!" every time they fire their weapons.

>> Many semi rifles can operate with a drum that can hold more than 30 rounds.
Until they jam. ;-)
Bwahahaha! I got all excited there for a few seconds.
OMG I laugh3d TOO HARD at this 😭
Drum, hell! Get the pallet jack prepped and greased, brutha, you’re gonna need it!
It took a few seconds of that thought to ping pong ball around inside my head to figure out:)
Hint: The article is from The Babylon Bee posted under the topic "humor."
😆
An assault rifle has a capacity of one round.
If only this were true... sigh...
Yeah....like the nightclub where you get checked for guns at the door. If you don’t have, they give you one.
Not the Bee?
Not the Bee’s best...
We live in Maryland. (Hey, I need a job). The insane asylum they call a legislature just broke up for the year. They spent all their time raising taxes and didn’t get around to infringing our 2A rights this year.
I was being factious - the story sounded just like the Bee.
Had to read that one twice.
“At publishing time, Texas lawmakers had introduced another bill that, if passed, would make it mandatory for gun carriers to yell “Yee Haw!” every time they fire their weapons.”
Requiring large capacity makes sense considering the horrific people Biden has brought into the country, but yelling “Yee Haw” before shooting will make it more difficult to get off a clean shot.
Betcha the stores in Kansas and Wyoming are gearing up for 30 round magazine sales. New Mexico is trying to go the anti-gun route. Some rifles use the 30 round AR-15 magazine to hold ten of a different caliber.
I have always wondered that if Indian Reservations can legally build casinos in violation of state laws, why cannot those same Reservations open up gun stores to sell 20 round rifles to the Citizens outside the Reservation. Somehow I see a reversal from the 1800s as fair play!
HA! Good one! I like that idea.
It’s not that off the wall, point being there are a lot of “liberty or bust” posers who are flat out worshipers of Kant, Hegel, Marx/Engels, Gramsci, and Lenin/Stalin in the Republican Party of Texas. Just look at their actions, plain as day yet voters still buy that farce of an institution (GOP of Texas). Robin Hood laws drove me out of there because I knew these State power-whores lacked any type of logical fundamentals at all.
