Donald Trump, his family’s connection to Norman Vincent Peale’s church, and how that ties into the Trump-level energy

Alright, let’s dive into the full lowdown on Donald Trump, his family’s connection to Norman Vincent Peale’s church, and how that ties into the Trump-level energy you’re talking about—positive thinking, big vibes, the whole deal! Here’s the story, packed with the goods and delivered with some flair.

Donald Trump’s connection to Norman Vincent Peale and Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan goes way back—deep roots, folks! His father, Fred Trump, a real estate mogul who built a fortune in Queens and Brooklyn, started taking the family to this Fifth Avenue gem in the 1950s. It wasn’t just any church—Marble Collegiate, part of the Reformed Church in America, was led by Norman Vincent Peale, the guy who basically invented modern positive thinking with his 1952 blockbuster The Power of Positive Thinking.

Fred was hooked—big time! He loved Peale’s upbeat, can-do gospel that meshed perfectly with his own hustle-and-win mindset. So, Sunday after Sunday, the Trump clan—Fred, Mary (Donald’s mom), and the kids, including young Donald—made the trek from Queens to Manhattan to soak in Peale’s sermons. Peale wasn’t just a preacher; he was a superstar—think Tony Robbins with a Bible.

His book sold over 5 million copies, stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for 186 weeks, and got translated into 15 languages. He preached that you could will success into existence—picture yourself winning, believe it, and bam, it happens! Fred ate it up, and he passed that vibe down to Donald, who was just a kid when this all started—born in ’46, he’d have been about 6 when the book dropped.

The Trumps didn’t just visit; they made Marble their spiritual home base. Donald was confirmed there as a teen, and the church became a family fixture—both his sisters, Maryanne and Elizabeth, got married there, and later, Fred and Mary’s funerals were held in its sanctuary.

Now, Donald’s first marriage to Ivana Trump—yep, that happened at Marble too, in 1977, with Peale himself officiating! That’s right—Norman Vincent Peale, the positive-thinking guru, was the one tying the knot for Donald and Ivana. His second wedding to Marla Maples in 1993? Also at Marble, though Peale had passed away by then (he died on Christmas Eve ’93), so his successor, Rev. Arthur Caliandro, did the honors.

The Trump-Peale connection was so tight that Donald co-hosted Peale’s 90th birthday bash at the Waldorf Astoria in 1988, rubbing elbows with the man himself—Ivana was there, Fred and Mary too—just a big, glitzy Trump-Peale love fest.

Did Donald ever meet Peale? You bet he did! Beyond the wedding and the birthday party, Trump grew up in the pews listening to the guy—Peale was a constant presence in his early life. And talk about him? Oh, Donald’s dropped Peale’s name plenty, especially when he’s riffing on his own success or faith. At the Iowa Family Leadership Summit in July 2015, mid-campaign, he said, “Norman Vincent Peale—the great Norman Vincent Peale—was my pastor.

The Power of Positive Thinking—everybody’s heard of it. He was so great. I still remember his sermons. You could listen to him all day long.” That’s Trump-level hype right there—calling Peale “the greatest guy” and crediting those real-life, modern sermons for shaping him. In a 2009 Psychology Today interview, he said Peale’s book helped him through tough times—like his casino bankruptcies—because he “refused to be sucked into negative thinking.” Pure Peale energy!

Peale’s whole deal was about confidence—“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities!”—and Trump took it and ran. Biographers like Gwenda Blair (The Trumps) say Fred saw Peale as a kindred spirit, a salesman-preacher whose “think big, win big” philosophy matched his own. Donald absorbed it too—his niece Mary Trump, in her book Too Much and Never Enough, says Fred drilled Peale’s no-self-doubt attitude into Donald “in spades.” It’s why Trump brands himself a winner and slaps “Sleepy” or “Crooked” on his rivals—it’s that double-edged sword of positivity for him, negativity for them.

Did it stick with him? Absolutely. Trump’s talked about tithing—Fred taught him to give $100 a week back in the ’50s, a big chunk then—learned right there at Marble. Even when the church distanced itself in 2015, saying he wasn’t an “active member” anymore (he hadn’t been back since Caliandro died in 2013), Trump shrugged it off—didn’t faze him. Peale’s influence was already baked in. From Fred taking the family there to Donald marrying Ivana under Peale’s watch, it’s a straight line to that Trump-level energy—optimism on steroids, turning obstacles into opportunities, just like the father of positive thinking preached.

So, there you go—the complete lowdown! Trump met Peale, loved him, lived his lessons, and still channels that vibe today. It’s all part of the legend—huge, fantastic, unstoppable!

Love the parallel of Christ, the New Covenant Church, and America.

Christ began with Him and His 12.

Just like America began with 13.

Christ’s Church grew at 50.

America has grown to 50 states.

The New Covenant Church was going to become lawless, disordered, corrupted, . leavened. According to the bible.

Same with America.

Maybe America getting transformed back into a strong yet peaceful, law and order nation under a Make America Great Again movement, has great hope for the currently corrupted New Covenant Church..

And a sign for Israel to start believing in their Deliverance through Christ.

Not sure that would preach in many Churches.

Might preach at the White House, though.

I stopped reading your comment when you mentioned Wiki.

That group has no basis in reality and to use it to back up anything only destroys the credibility of those who reference them.

“I am a big power of positivity person and have been to Marble Collegiate and heard Peale preach.”

He lived to 95 so he must have been doing something right..... Also comes to mind, “The proof is in the pudding”

It is easy to criticize Peal, Robert Schular. etc.

But if you look at it as a cup of water to a thirsty man, it was proper. It is the same context of a free meal, or giving a coat.

Jesus said if His name was used even if improperly, Jesus can use it.

Jesus uses this even if emphasis is wrong.

So give an encouraging word to someone today, even if you don’t say something out loud.

These are very much restatements of the book of wisdom. Doesn’t mean they are bad. It is your job and my job to use them to lead to the truth.

One of the oldest philosophical statements that is of profound truth is:

“Whatever is, is”

https://www.parmenides.me/

Parmenides philosophy has been explained with the slogan “whatever is is, and what is not cannot be”. He is also credited with the phrase out of nothing nothing comes. He argues that “A is not” can never be thought or said truthfully, and thus despite appearances everything exists as one, giant, unchanging thing. This is generally considered one of the first digressions into the philosophical concept of being, and has been contrasted with Heraclitus’s statement that “No man ever steps into the same river twice” as one of the first digressions into the philosophical concept of becoming. Scholars have generally believed that either Parmenides was responding to Heraclitus, or Heraclitus to Parmenides.

The above is not an anti truth, it is a partial truth.

When I hear, “what ever is, is” ,which is more common than you might think, I agree, “yes, that is true, God is sovereign.”

The two philosophies are often discussed with the idea that one is true and the other is not, meaning are you is or are you becoming.

I respond with “God is, He doesn’t change. But we are becoming”

"I stopped reading... when Wikipedia was mentioned."

* * * *

Indeed, OneVike.  The globalist, MAGA-hating Wikipedia is not to be trusted.  They are the Orwellian and globalist European Union version of "truth".

I searched out Norman Vincent Peale on wiki to find out what they said about President Trump's association with him.  Sure enough, before mentioning Trump, they put in a shameless plug for Mary Trump's book that tears down her brother.

President Trump and his team are restoring America to Americans.  What's more, his Christian and spiritually-inspired energy and virtue are as deep and wide as the Gulf of America.

See the images: George Washington at Valley Forge.

Mary Trump is The Donald's NIECE; NOT his SISTER! She is the daughter of his older brother, who was a total loser and alcoholic! She's a spiteful, greedy, grasping, jealous POS, as is her brother.

Norman Vincent Peal was a REALLY big deal; especially in NYC, back when. Even my mother wanted me to read his book, when I was a kid, but I thought that whole "THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING" was junk and refused; unlike the Trump family. Obviously it worked for President Trump.

Hey, nopardons. Thank you for identifying my error.  Mary Trump is indeed Donald Trump's niece, not his sister.

BTW, did you find post 28 on this thread by dennsw?  It's a terrific list of excerpts by Peale from various books he authored?  Worth saving!

Okay, I read post #28, which I had purposely skipped over and guess what? With a few exceptions ( and most of those had been around long before Peale put them in his books ), I STILL find his stuff absolute CRAP ON WHEELS and extremely distasteful in an overtly saccharine, naive way; not to mention the fact that some are SO insufferably wrong, it makes my skin crawl.

Emile Coue, he who introduced THE first "power of positive thinking" stuff with: "EVERYDAY, IN EVERY WAY, I'M GETTING BETTER AND BETTER", way back in the 1920s, gave me fits of giggles, as a small child, when my grandmother told me all about him.

He, he, fair enough. Thanks for being honest.

Saccharine -- now that's a clever adjective.  Maybe I'm caught in the fact that Trump liked the guy. To each his own.

Anyway, my two favorite "literary" heroes are Mark Twain and H. L. Mencken.

I use Grok3. Grok3 does not use me. Grok3 is somewhat adaptive. Within a defined “chat” I have persuaded it to move Trumpward on the Russian collusion hoax. Was just a few days ago. You can try this too for some fun.
