Hackman and his wife were found in separate rooms The actor and his wife's bodies were found in separate rooms of their Santa Fe home, The New York Times reported.
One of their three dogs was found dead inside a kennel, according to Sheriff Adan Mendoza.
Police told the outlet that an associate of the couple called emergency services after discovering the bodies.
Sheriff Mendoza added that no suicide note was found and there were no obvious signs of trauma to the bodies.
'At this stage in the process there isn’t anything obvious like that,' the sheriff said. 'The autopsy is going to tell us more.'
The sheriff added: 'We’re not going to guess this was an accident or natural causes... It wasn’t typical.

That or refrigerant leak. A lot of high end older homes in NM have variable volume refrigerant systems. If you cheap out on the leak alarming it’s possible for a leak to be dangerous.
Exactly
Agreed.
On a night my wife snores bad, we would be found in seperate bedrooms too :)
but the dog?!
I have to read again, if tht was the only dog in the house...then CO would be reasonable or more reasonable
Russia?!
Well that’s a lot of information.
He was married to her a looong time
Condolences to family and friends of Gene and Betsy.
The dog may have died of starvation after Hackman and his wife died and were unable to feed it.
Only if it was recently done. I had an issue once with some roofers, they didn't put the exhaust on my water heater on correctly and it bled into the house and set off the sensors. Surely they had sensors.
Not at all bizarre for old couples.
There are a host of medical/aging reasons why old couples constantly disturb each other’s sleep at night and are far better off sleeping in separate bedrooms. It is not like they are romantic newleyweds in their late twenties or something. When you are 95 and causing your wife all kinds of problems sleeping, it is better for all involved if you sleep in separate rooms. It is not at all uncommon.
Carbon monoxide is a product of natural gas combustion. If it was CO, it would have been an exhaust-side leak. Natural gas accumulation can also lead to unconsciousness and death, but the smell is a give-away. Seems that if they had an automatic heater that a supply-side leak would have 1) been detectable by odor, and 2) led to an explosion due to the appliances pilot light.
Not all that far from Roswell.
You misread my comment. No, it is not bizarre that they were found in separate bedrooms, but the headline and ensuing article imply that it is. Not bizarre at all.
Separate bedrooms is often the norm. Due to meds, or not, people tend to twitch in their sleep. Or could be any number of other reasons. Dogs in different parts of the house may have had access to better ventilation of outside air that allowed them to live. Let’s not overreact!
That report from TMZ is indeed odd. She had collapsed in the bathroom, pills were spilled.
He was in the bedroom and looked like he had collapsed because of the way his sunglasses had been dropped.
No sign of any gas.
She had been dead for some time.
Dog in a closet. Other dogs alive both inside and outside.
Timing is suspicious- the Epstein list is due out Today- could this famous man have had his name on that list? Just asking (for a friend)
What if the pilot light went out and they were asleep?
This sort of thing has happened before. From a quick google search
In May 2019, four members of the Reitter family died from carbon monoxide poisoning in their home in Genoa Township, Ohio. The victims were Richard Gabriel Reitter III, 50, his wife Jennifer, 49, and their children Richard Gabriel Reitter IV, 15, and Grace Reitter, 13. Three dogs also died
Why?
From what I read, she was on a floor in a bathroom. Doesn’t sound like either one just died in their bed.
Poison
