I don’t see the request that way. They just asked if the family could see it first before public release.
IMHO, they deserve that opportunity. However, it should all going to be released.
Stanley Levinson, mlk juniors commie handler.
its good that RFK and MLK families seem positive about the release.
That there is a negative reaction from JFK’s grandson suggests that there may be some uncomfortable secrets to be revealed.
What right does the family have to public documents?
The most important part is transparency regarding the actions of our government. I don’t care what MLK did. I care what the government that supposedly represents me did.
If I could have files released to show what the government did to my husband, I’d jump at the chance. Not only because it could save others from going through the same thing, but also just because he was too precious to let them get away with it.
I feel much the same way. It is what we can learn about what our government was doing to keep our current and future governments from doing it again.
And to that end, I say the Extortion 17 files should all be released too.
.
Best response.
Even better than my first reaction: "the importance of uncovering the truth while also focusing on preserving the family's gravy train".
My wife thinks they’ll be redacted beyond any usefulness (in order to protect the guilty).
Be sure of the large number of files for each case, I am for allowing the families to see them about 30 days in advance of the rest of us seeing them.
I won’t be surprised if the families sue the president in an effort to keep them private.
There will probably be some information that they don’t want us to see.
I appreciate the opinion prediction on redaction but I thought the point of releasing all of it was NO redaction of any kind? No?
James Earl Ray was an uneducated redneck.
He may well have been the shooter.
But no way could he EVER navigate a path to Spain on his own.
Whatever the case may be the country deserves to know if the government was involved in these murders. I think the government played a part in all 3 just like Trump’s attempted assassination. The country will be better off knowing the truth.
I hope you're right. It was just speculation based on previous document releases.
“that’s a good question. We might only know who killed him and nothing else.”
I thought I read the complete King files would be released after 50 years.
It has been 50 years; plus
Send the family a copy via Courier. When the Courier scans the doc as delivered, release it to the public. BTW, chances are pretty good that some family members already know whats coming.
Dr King had a great many unseemly connections and engaged in numerous questionable activities. He was a supremely capable deceiver and attracted supporters with far better morals than his. They simply did not know his true character.
The King legacy was created by his supporters who were better people than he was. Those ideals should be kept, regardless of details exposed in the declassified records.
The family won't agree to that. I understand the sympathy to the family, but they want to preserve his legacy as it is known today, too. If this happens, we're almost certain to see lawsuits filed to stop the release which will prevent the release for another 60 years! I hope they don't let this happen (goes for the JFK and RFK files, too.)
And I don’t even believe they will be unaltered. Remember the CIA has the authority to alter documents if they deem it’s in the best interest of the public.
Meaning if it’s in their best interest. I’ll always be skeptical of what comes out of the DC swamp.
