How the United States' withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement may impact Wisconsin

Among the slew of executive actions President Trump signed Monday, there is one that may impact our climate.

The Paris Climate Agreement is an agreement between countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions with the goal of avoiding human interference in climate change.

When speaking with UW-Madison climate expert, Jack Williams, he shares with he has taught climate change courses for over a decade and says he has seen a major shift in how climate change is viewed.

"Public opinion and awareness has really shifted on this. And so, there is this interesting disconnect between public awareness, which people are mostly now convinced that climate change is happening. They're seeing the impact in their lives or seeing their insurance bills go up versus the, you know, the political leadership and sometimes the disinformation campaigns that go on around this," Williams said.

Williams attributes recent major weather events across the country to climate change.

"Rainfall intensity, and these extreme events of droughts and floods has been linked to climate change...weather extremes like hurricanes and floods. Those have a link to human caused climate change," he said.

He fears that by the U.S. pulling out of the agreement and there being less of an effort to combat climate change could impact Wisconsin.

"We're all affected by each other's actions. And so here in Wisconsin, we have been fortunate to date that we have not had the devastating fires of, say, California. We are seeing warmer winters, warmer summers. We're seeing an increasing, frequency of big rain events with more than an inch and a day that that those bigger rain events are intensifying in the state."

I seriously wonder what happens to these people.. Global warming experts and the whole whole DEI industry once the federal grants dry up.

And their “serious peer reviewed papers” go up in flames when people start digging into their data and find it is ALL fake.

I have no doubt the climate IS changing. It's always has been changing, and it always will be changing.

Jack, I was going to discuss no more trips to fancy locations on someone else's money. No more government money to study, restudy, publish, conference outings, etc.

Let me summarize...

“Personally, I liked the university. They gave us money and facilities; we didn’t have to produce anything! You’ve never been out of college! You don’t know what it’s like out there! I’ve worked in the private sector. They expect results.” – Raymond Stantz

Today’s cold and snow is no different from the winter of 1977 when the US had total cloud cover, brutal cold and snow in all states.
It was used as proof we were entering THE COMING ICE AGE!

so why are we having the same thing in the days of Glo-Bull Warming?

Climate change is cyclical caused by the earths interactions with the sun and it’s solar cycles and has been for 4.5+ billion years. Nothing man made about it.

you raise a good question. we are in the middle of a lot of realignment. But the good news is that this is NOT a centralization realignment.

Looking at history, Communist China put all the educated elite to work shoveling crap in the countryside because they were not to be trusted.

The hopeful deregulation we are going to see is going to be a wild ride, hard to predict and problems are opportunity.

Let me repeat, WE ARE IN FOR A WILD RIDE.

The uniqueness of the American Experiment is the equal ability to go up and down the social/economic ladder. MAGA

Madison is one of 2 or 3 reasons Wisconsin has a Dem governor, Lt Gov, AG, SecState are all democrats, in a state that is damn near Republican.

The state legislature is one or two seats from being veto proof Republican majority.

There was an election in ‘22(?) that elected a Democrat to a judicial seat where they were paying kids to vote. Nothing came of it.

This country could be so much different if we played by their rules.
