Grandfather dead after bear shot in a tree falls on him while hunting

The incident occurred Dec. 9 in Lunenburg County, which is between Richmond and Danville, Virginia’s Department of Wildlife Resources said in a statement.

A hunting group was following the bear when it ran up the tree, the department said. As the group retreated from the tree, a hunter shot the bear. The animal fell onto another hunter [the victim] who was standing about 10 feet (3 meters) from the bottom of the tree.

The department identified the man as Lester C. Harvey, 58, of Phenix, Virginia. A member of the group rendered first aid before Harvey was rushed to two different hospitals.

Because it wasn’t a fair fight. The bear was cornered and didn’t have a chance at the man with the gun. So falling on him at least equaled it out.

Really? As another Freeper already stated, you probably said “good” and was cheering when the CEO of United Healthcare was assassinated. After all, it wasn’t fair that the CEO was making millions a year.

It’s a pretty safe bet the Virginia’s Department of Wildlife Resources is trying to either manage a bear overpopulation problem, or, prevent one.

I have eaten bear. It is good. Obviously the Virginia game and fish commission has bears in excess to hunt.

Bummer..we see black bears all the time, watch cubs running up trees and the occasional adult sitting in a tree. Never did bear hunting, awesome animal. Tried bear meat and wasn’t impressed with, Deer on the other hand 👍👍👍
