No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Good Morning!
Looking forward to some days without rain looming or falling... need to dry out a bit here...

To open up the back nine I was hoping for a great shot off the tee, but once again had to settle for a nice drive from the fairway... a great roll put me onto the green with a short putt to sink the Birdie 3...

Setting at 39, one under after 10...
Happy Tuesday...
Rather pedestrian swing out of the tee box made it look like this was going to be an easy hole. 3 wood for the second hooked towards the water and switched to a 3 iron to get me out of the rough. Chipped with a wedge to get a good roll that dropped the ball into the cup.

Anytime we hit Par for the hole is a good show in my book...
I think any time I get to the hole in the morning is a good show.
Setting my expectations low in life has ensured I’m always an astounding success. 😁
My “little” girls are 17 and 14. The elder is graduating High School next Summer; the younger is just starting this Fall.
Tempus fugit
It’s not a feature I’d heard about, before, but if you go into Google Maps and type “scenic drives near ___” and specify a place, you’ll get quite a roster of possibilities.
A nice enough day again, today: clear and sunny, with a 100% chance of Democrats in and around the Bay Area. Encountered singly they’re not an issue, but they can become dangerous in swarms.
MY youngest son has put in for a job with a regional utility that would make the most of his youthful vigor and pay him QUITE handsomely. I would covet your prayers for his success in that effort; he’s applied to numerous places, and it’s been a wash, thus far, and it’s taking a toll on his self-concept.

I wonder what they think of as scenic in this neck of the woods. I’ll have to check that out.
Update ... I had no idea Google Maps could lol.
Your son’s job search has my full spiritual backing!
😂
🙏🏼 up for your son’s job prospects!
Leaving for Boy Scout camp. Kitteh service will resume on Sunday.
They look like our Lilly, who went to Rainbow Bridge last year. She, too, was a stray who we fed and then adopted for indoors. 😢
Good Midweek Morning!
Enjoy the trip to camp!
Rushing out to take MIL to an early appointment. Back later.

Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
I gotta remember to remove Dr. Appointments from my calendar when I cancel them. I rushed over for bloodwork when I saw I was late, and I had cancelled because they had just drawn blood last March. Sheesh!
Enjoy Scout Camp, T-C.
It’s still cool-ish in the mornings. Today’s guessed rain is no longer being guessed, so the landscapers can continue to work dry. I had no idea how many trucks they would need to park out front at any given time. The neighbors will probably start complaining soon.
I pretty-much followed instructions for today’s hole. I avoided the hazard to get to the mid-range fairway. I lofted it over the cart track to the fairway just before the green. My shot onto the green put me about 2 feet from the hole for an easy putt for par.

Wet Wednesday...
Almost completely flubbed the tee shot. Ended up bouncing along the cart path, but stayed out of the water. Hooked it, Left-handed so everything is backwards, right back onto the cart path again...
Frustrated 7 iron from the rough dropped me on the edge of the green. 20’ putt saved the day from just giving up altogether...

Annual evaluations due tomorrow. A most tedious time of the year as I’m not at all one to toot my own horn save in jest and for the sake of humor. As well, all my days flash by like cards in a poker game; I recall seeing a few kings and aces along the way, but what suit they were or when...? It’s just like my driving: I’m 99% in my windshield and scarcely at all in my rearview as hardly anyone is ever back there nipping at my heels. I have copious records, and have to delve into all that granular data to go back and recall where the gems were found, remembering always the fate of the dwarves.
“They delved too greedily and too deep...”
In the end it feels as if the exercise becomes less what I’ve done, and more how well I succeed at recounting the doing.
On to 11 with 44 strokes on the round.
