No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
😂😂
(Worth two!)
Good morning, Happy Monday.
Fall is in the air for kitteh. We’re in a bit of a warmer spell right now, but not for long.
We decided to set up our tabernacle over the weekend. Since we don’t have much to call our own here we have a setup that includes a frame made out of conduit pipes and a tarp stretched around 3 sides. The 4th side is the apartment.
I put up the frame Friday night. On Saturday, when we went out to put up the tarp, the porch was swarming with wasps. We managed to get rid of enough of them to set things up, and they haven’t been bothering the space since, but it makes us a bit uneasy to think of using that space for a week starting tonight.
On the other hand, Wordle was practically a gimmee this morning.

That’s a really nice sweater vest!
Good Monday Morning!
Really starting to wonder when we will see some rain falling... still nothing on the 10 day outlook...
This one was slow in coming...

👍🏻 on that Wordle!
With the hits on the first word it was either easy or one of THOSE patterns. Fortunately, a lot of the words with those green letters had already run. I was running out of ideas when I stumbled across the answer.
Family drama kind of put a damper on an otherwise good weekend. Viking Fest was great... But I may not see my kids for years now. I’m actually thinking of moving out of the State... And that’s about all I’m going to say about that.

It was a pretty good setup!
I was going to ask about the Viking Fest... Ugh on the kids front... Ugh, ugh, ugh...
I wonder if Vikings had to put up with that sort of family drama.
I know the pain. I have 2 children who don’t contact us much. Both of them made fairly significant changes to their home locations without a word. We found out on LinkedIn.
That’s the common experience. And it’s not analogous to anything like driving stick vs automatic; one’s not clearly easier such that one choice is markedly advantageous
The one arena I run across where Android wins cleanly is in transfer between a device and a Windows desktop. Apple always made me install their software and login to an AppleID before permitting me to see the files on the device.
With Android, as soon as I plug in the USB cable, I can browse the device, and drag-and-drop files just like browsing a local hard drive without installing anything more on the computer.
The two interface schemes are just incompatibly different, and whichever one you are used to makes the other a foreign land.
Just glorious fall weather. A little warm, actually. The southerly angle of the Sun is definitely more pronounced, but there’s no crisp to the morning air. Yet.
One choice too many today...

It’s warm here, too. I was thinking of camping out tonight to enjoy the full moon, but it’s been cloudy with occasional rain. Supposed to clear up after midnight, but I’ll be asleep.
The kittah captures my true feelings this AM.
May God bless US all though.
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
We’re supposed to get rain today and some cooler weather to follow. The complex turned on the sprinklers this morning so I’m not sure they believe the cooling is coming.
I can’t just browse my Android phone from my Macbook any more. There was a utility that allowed me to connect via USB, but it is no longer supported. Fortunately, I have the Android Development Kit so I can always launch that and connect to the phone that way it. It’s clunky, but it works. Bit if I get an iPhone they will just share.
It will be about $100 more to get the right iPhone. Still considering it.
Today’s Wordle was nothing like yesterday’s for me.
