In recent years, the term “woke” has become a ubiquitous part of the cultural and political lexicon, often evoking strong reactions and sparking heated debates. But the word “woke” has a rich history that extends far beyond its current usage. Originally rooted in African American Vernacular English (AAVE), “woke” has evolved over the decades, shifting from a term of cultural consciousness to a symbol of social justice awareness, and more recently, to a controversial term in political discourse. This article delves into the origins of “woke,” its evolution over time, and its complex role in contemporary society.

If George Carlin was alive, he would include the word in his act.
It was also used back in the early days of the Christian Roman Empire. Because Christianity was chosen to replace the many, many religions in those areas. Officials of the church would make sure that the “new rules” were being followed by asking people they met if they were “woke to the Christ.”
Nothing is new.
2024 was peak woke.
Leftists always confuse words with what their meaning is in the real world.
It is not the “word” that is “controversial”.
It is the behavior that is despicable.
Words only become offensive when the Left loses control over defining their meaning. If the left says a word is now offensive, we should double down on the word’s use. That means we are winning.
It started with the tea party movement then was co-opted because of its effectiveness by the leftist groupthink mindguards.
Let’s get the historical record right. The way “woke” is used today is in response to the Great Awakening.
The Great Awakening is a pro-American, anti-globalist movement that kicked into gear in October 2017.
The anti-American globalists were buttressed by their minions who responded pathetically by trying to counter “awakening” with “woke.”
Is this article another attempt by the communists to distort words and alter history?
They should all contemplate, each individual leftist in his own mind, the fact that trying to recreate reality by changing language is, more than anything else, low IQ.
I don’t say this as a personal attack against them. I’m simply stating objective truth, hoping the leftists will learn from it.
I think the point of the article is that the term had a very different slang or vernacular meaning in the early 20th century than it has come to have today.
#AwakeNotWoke
#TooAwakeToBeWoke
Somebody needs to clue in this clown that word meanings change very quickly in our digital age and that a given slang word comes to have the meaning that is given to it by the majority of users at any given time..
I think that’s actually what the article says.
Oops! I confess that I didn’t read the piece.
