KEY POINTS

* A rebrand unveiled by classic British car brand Jaguar drew the ire of many on social media this week, as the company prepares to relaunch in 2026 with only electric models.

* Jaguar, part of Tata Motors subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover, said the redesigns “preserved iconic symbols while taking a dramatic leap forward.”

"JAGUAR. Sleek and Smart. For men who'd like hand jobs from beautiful women they hardly know"

For men who'd like Monika jobs from men they hardly know.

Who is their customer?

Let’s be honest. Its wealthy, straight, middle aged White guys. That’s who buys Jaguars. They’re looking for something sporty yet refined and elegant.....something that projects an air of sophistication and class. The image they are not looking to project is that of a bunch of demented gay teletubbies in dayglo colors. Jaguar sales will now go into the toilet - mark my words.

“This kind of ‘edgy’ advertising is so 2020...”

It reminded me of an original Star Trek episode. I expected Captain Kirk to step out and ask, “Is THIS the future, Mr. Spock?” The design was “The Mod Squad Meets the Teletubbies!”

It was annoying 50 years ago...

It’s built into the seatbelt for hands free insertion while driving.

Quickly, sell your stock in Jaguar like you did with Bud Light stock.

Am currently reading the May, 1961, edition of Car and Driver, in which the XKE is introduced. It seems the company has gotten a little off track since then...

I was impressed that they went with a trans holding a sledgehammer with all the men beating up women angst in society. Every time I see it I think yeah, thats what I want as a role model ... a psycopathic 6-4 man with a sledgehammer in a tutu.

I had a ‘76 240DL and an ‘82 240DL. The ‘76 got stolen when it was in the shop to get the clutch replaced.
The ‘76 was green and I actually called it the “tank”.

That 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine would go forever. Even over 1 million miles or more. However, all the other parts on the car wore out. I had to replace the water pump, alternator, fuel pump and a couple other things on the ‘82.
I traded it in on a brand new 1988 Toyota pickup. With another great 2.4 liter 4 cylinder that may still be running somewhere in the world. Like Afghanistan.

"Who is their customer?"

I imagine your post is partly true. They want the liberals who won't buy a Tesla now, "a bunch of demented gay teletubbies in dayglo colors" who hate free speach.

For anyone interested I’d direct you to yesterday’s Matt Walsh show when he played a speech by some high mucky muck at Jaguar extolling the company’s wokeness. I guess they don’t read the papers. This is going to turn out poorly

I helped a buddy adjust the clutch on his bosses early 1970s XKE.
It literally took us ALL day.
Those 12 cylinder Jags sure were pretty, BUT they were a nightmare to repair and keep running. Like all of those British Leyland products. They were all mechanical nightmares.
The electrical systems were the worst.

I do believe you have found the inspiration for the video!
Not so original after all.
