Evangelicals and gun owners....WHY???

Posted on 09/23/2024 10:58:20 AM PDT by volare737

Watching Trump's last rally, he stated that Evangelicals and gun owners do NOT vote at high levels. I found that very hard to believe.
I would have thought those two groups would vote at the highest levels!
So I did a little research and found the following--

Evangelicals...
make up 28% of all voters--a really huge number--more than African Americans, Hispanic and union voters combined--that is amazing.
However, many Evangelicals do not vote....roughly 30% are not even registered, and of those that are registered, 40% do not vote. WOW!

Gun owners...
10 million hunters and gun owners are NOT registered to vote!
Pennsylvania alone has 515,277 not registered, and about a half million in Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin each!
Arizona has 133,000 not registered, Nevada 59,173 and Montana 53,233. Again, WOW!

WHY???

Not a priority compared to what will mess up if they are not at work. Either control freaks, surrounded by incompetence, surrounded by folks that are gunning for their jobs, &/or you name it...
Very, very few good folks show up at all. Remember the tide that turned the demented perversion of the children in school wasn’t started by men, it was by Soccer Mom at PTA Meetings.
The Dad’s didn’t show until there was a sound movement.

I’ve ran into so many Christians that are frustratingly apathetic when it comes to voting and essentially any social or societal issues. They’ve all got the attitude of “God is in control, and whatever happens is His will.”
Drives me crazy! Get off your behind and vote your values! Do it for your kids if nothing else! Vote!

IMHO it’s because evangelicals and 2nd amendment supporters tend to think in terms of relying on God or self, but not relying on government. People who have a worldview of depending on government are more apt to be involved in making sure that government does what they want.

It seems to me they’d think in terms of what government might DO to them.

40% of Christians don’t vote. 15% of them are not even registered. (Pastors Alan Jackson and Jentzen Franklin and my local pastor J. Collinsworth have been shouting from the rooftops about being involved).

We are commanded to be involved/participate.

I agree. And that's my mindset.

Tell them.....”show me faith without good works and I’ll show you no faith.”

Many don’t vote because they know it is rigged. If this election is stolen by Harris, then I might join them. Also, many don’t think it matters. Case in point, House Speaker Mike Johnson.

If all the conservative-minded people who don’t usually vote actually DID vote, I don’t think the election could be rigged.

A lot of evangelicals think voting is pointless or unnecessary. And there is also a lot of crossover with gun ownership. Which is doubly ironic.

Agreed!

Fatalism is a Hindu and Muhammedism thing and has no place in Christian life.

We are called to trust and also act. Very many references from “dominion” in Genesis to the “parts of the body” analogy in Corinthians. We are here by His will and to do His will, not to slough off and let whatever happen.

i think there is a significant number of people in the USA that simply don’t care, or don’t think their vote matters, or don’t like any of the candidates - ever. They just look after their families as best they can and live life.

If Harris wins this election, I just might join them.

WHY???

My kin supported the Dems yet they never registered to vote as they did not want to be called up for Jury Duty.
I am the first to register (Republican) and have been on Jury Duty.
I joke that since they all have died, every election day they rise from the dead to vote democrat.

That was EXACTLY the point that Trump was trying to make. I just don't get it.

If Evangelicals and gun owners turned out in large numbers, it could not be rigged--and he would win in a landslide!

In my state, whether you vote or not, you can be called; they apparently include those with driver’s licenses in the pool.

I’ve been called three times; I think it’s a duty as important as voting.

Too many Gun owners apparently too complacent, too many Evangelicals too sanctimonious. Welcome to the base of the Republican party. Thinking themselves patriotic, they let the Nation’s future slip through their hands.
