The International Whisky Competition (IWC) 2024 saw the return of numerous prominent bourbon expressions, each vying for a gold medal in the prestigious contest. There were five sub-categories of ‘Best Bourbon’ in this year’s competition. So, today I thought we would take a look at the winners.

With tasting notes, prices, where to buy, and what is behind each expression – here are the best bourbons according to the 2024 International Whisky Competition. Check out more whiskey awards here.

Was introduced to Woodford Reserve in a perfect little cigar bar several years ago. It is lovely but definitely pricey...

Whistle Pig is overpriced compared to its competitors.

It’s hard to make aged spirits in hot states as it negatively affects the aging process.

Distillery must be up in the mountains. If the distillery is in SoCal the water is recycled toilet water. 😀

Louis the XIV is considered the best Bourbon. I thought it was settled.

My go to for the last year has been Old Elk, very smooth with nice flavors at the $50-55 price point.
Was given a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle by a very wealthy man from Kentucky a few years ago as a thanks upon the conclusion of a project we did for him. Saddest bottle of bourbon I own - as I have yet to open it

Evan Williams is good, and a good value.

I have a cabinet full of aged The Balvenie, McCallan, Lagavulin, you name it, that go untouched because I find the taste awful. But someone gave me an Evan Willams for a present. Nothing fancy. Screw top. I tried it after about a year of always moving it the bottle around to get something behind it and decided to pour a dram. It was quite good. Maybe it's a good thing to have inexpensive tastes.

Maybe I'm just more of a bourbon or Japanese whiskey fan.

Ignore my previous post. I was thinking of Glen Turner, the scotch, not Evan Willams.

Time to get another cup of coffee....

Jim Beam sourmash bourbon (since 1795) at under twenty bucks a fifth is just fine with me.

Regular Evan Williams Is very comparative to Jack Daniels. The bottled in bond is a good buy also.
