In the UK... Walk five feet, start digging a hole and viola... You’ll find yourself a corpse. The place is full of dead bodies everywhere.

My first thought is that some morbidly wealthy kook will do anything possible to secure the remains for some goofy, black magic, ritualistic leftist cause.

A little crazy. Anyone’s mental health would suffer if they were locked up in a medieval “Obliere” (Fr. “Forgotten”) cell for any length of time and suffering from lack of sunlight and the resulting scurvy.

Article doesn’t really tell us much about what they found in the hill fort beyond saying it was inhabited and dated to the time of the legend and that is a 300 year span. What was it they found that tied to the legend?
They said it overlooks the area of Merlin’s grave in Drumelzier. They know where Merlin was buried?
Another article says:
“ The local tale of Merlin, however, diverges significantly from the popular image of him as a wise advisor to King Arthur. The Drumelzier legend portrays Merlin as a tragic, somewhat pathetic figure, prone to spouting confusing riddles and prophecies, imprisoned by a minor tyrant before meeting a grim end—victimized by royal scheming”
Struck me that sounds like Biden and Kamala 😆

Since there is zero archaeological or reliable historical records showing that King Arthur existed, there then is a less than zero chance that Merlin existed.

I always loved how Merlin was depicted in the 1963 movie "The Sword in the Stone"

At least back then, Disney knew how to make good movies.
