This is (I hope) going to be a short narrative, but I felt this needs to be shared for hopefully the benefit of others here.
I am leaving Twitter/X. I'm done with it, and it's for reasons you might not think.
Let me say that I'm glad Elon Musk bought it and opened it up to be used as it's supposed to be used. I'm glad the many folks that were once banned under the old regime were able to have their accounts restored. And I'm glad it is being used as a means to expose the lies, hatred, bigotry and sheer evilness of everyone who wants to destroy this nation.
That said, I am leaving it because it has taken my focus off the one thing, or Person rather, that I should be concentrating on and communicating with, our Lord Jesus Christ. I can get the important news here on Free Republic (thank you Jim!) and at the same time get spiritual encouragement as well. Also, there are brothers and sisters here that I cannot thank enough for being there for me, especially the last couple of years as I deal with the effects of Long Covid.
I'm also deleting "The Liberty Daily" out of my morning routines as it is also a very depressing website to visit, and I don't like the way it uses, shall we say, "more colorful metaphors and adjectives." Sure, there is not much good to share from the left, but to use the derogatory surnames is shameful.
So that's it. Every morning when I bring up the morning news, this will be the only website I visit for all the happenings that are the most important to know about.

I dropped Twitter the same day they kicked Trump off. I have never looked back I dropped Instagram as a near occasion of sin. Dropped Reddit as well. Stripped my FB account down to a skeleton, no photos showing humans, rarely post.
I use FR and Telegram for news. It’s working out well.
Freerepublic is still the best one.

The big challenge right now is what RFK Jr described in his Tucker Carlson interview. The social media companies earn money by keeping people on the site as long as possible. To do that, they monitor what a person wants to hear and just keep feeding them more and more of the same. It really fits the Scripture about the times coming when people would gather around them those who would tell them what their itching ears want to hear.
And it works with all ideologies. We can surround ourselves only with news that we want to hear, just as leftists do. The end result is that we have literal parallel universes that rarely, if ever, intersect. When they do intersect it’s mostly people just repeating what is in their parallel universe and yelling at the others who are comfortably in their own parallel universe. There’s no body of recognized actual facts. It’s the leftists claiming one thing and conservatives claiming the opposite. Occasionally actual evidence is presented.
To break that cycle we need people who are able to withstand the depression that comes from seeing deceived people post lies, and actually present evidence that reaches into the parallel universes. FR is a great format for presenting and processing evidence. None of the social media platforms come even close to providing real opportunity for in-depth analysis.
I know there are trolls here who are being exposed to factual evidence; their purpose for being here is to try to influence the lurkers. I don’t know how many lurkers there are who frequent liberal sources and give a fair hearing to the evidence presented here. I’d like to believe that the discussions here do make it out to non-Freepers or non-conservatives, but the more we can stay strong enough and reach out to the liberal parallel universe, the better.
I also believe that we are in a critical spiritual war. Only God can save us from the lies and deceit that Satan is brainwashing (or brain-dirtying, I should say) this post-modern world with. So the top priority for all of us should be to pray and to encourage one another. The hope is that this would strengthen us to put the truth out there for those whose minds are open to hear it. But the prayer is absolutely critical because only God can open closed minds, and He can use the circumstances in a person’s life to bring people to their knees where they are better able to hear the truth.
Ultimately when it comes to sharing the truth, personal relationships are the most conducive to respectful, impactful discussions. Content shared either on social media or on FR is most powerful, IMHO, when shared with people in our sphere of influence.

It’s great to the “curated” contents of X without having to spend the time scanning all sorts of people.
This the beauty of the FR model we love.
So, you are going to create a bubble world for yourself where you see/read/hear nothing inconvenient to your views.
That is how people become brainwashed.
Try moderation of some sites instead. You do not need to go daily and read every story.

180 degrees out of phase. The support for globalist money laundering theft of American treasure in the corrupt country, Ukraine, under the control of an authoritarian dictator that cancels elections, is what is destroying FR for me.

For me, X and FB most other sites are interior for news and commentary since they usually are very limited on the length of responses, and often exclude links. Fox news included.
