A New Hampshire man set to go to space will now have to wait until at least Friday.
The SpaceX Polaris Dawn, to be piloted by Scott Poteet, was delayed last week, and unfavorable weather conditions led to those delays.
The company had originally received permission from the Federal Aviation Administration to launch early Wednesday morning, with a backup date of Thursday morning, but according to the FAA, the launch will now wait until early Friday morning.

Well, I've sure blown this day. :^)
Where is this launching from ?
Florida, pretty sure.
The flight-proven F9 booster that had the landing leg problem and turned into a pile of scrap was (I think) going to be their ride.
The landing failure wouldn’t have been a problem for the mission, but it’s probably lucky in a way that Boeing’s rubbish heap Startrashcanliner problems and problem denial by Boeing and its lobbyists delayed the launch.
Instead, they’re going up on a new F9 (I think).
I have the same question...looked but couldn’t find anything...

Due to unfavorable weather forecasted in Dragon’s splashdown areas off the coast of Florida, SpaceX is standing down from Falcon 9’s launch opportunities of Polaris Dawn on Wednesday, August 28 and Thursday, August 29. SpaceX teams will continue to monitor weather for favorable launch and return conditions.
The Dragon spacecraft supporting this mission previously flew Crew-1 to and from the International Space Station, and Inspiration4, the first all-civilian mission to orbit. This will be the fourth flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched Crew-8 and two Starlink missions. Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage will land on the A Shortfall of Gravitas droneship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
MISSION OBJECTIVES
During their multi-day mission to orbit, Dragon and the crew will endeavor to reach the highest Earth orbit ever flown since the Apollo program and participate in the first-ever extravehicular activity (EVA) by commercial astronauts wearing SpaceX-developed EVA suits. They will also conduct 36 research studies and experiments from 31 partner institutions designed to advance both human health on Earth and during long-duration spaceflight, and test Starlink laser-based communications in space.
The Polaris Dawn crew will combine their expertise, knowledge, and passion for spaceflight to further human space exploration. This will be the first human spaceflight for Mission Pilot Kidd Poteet, Mission Specialist Sarah Gillis, and Mission Specialist and Medical Officer Anna Menon. Mission Commander Jared Isaacman previously flew to space as commander of Inspiration4. This will also be the first time two SpaceX employees will be part of a human spaceflight crew, providing valuable insight to future missions on the road to making life multiplanetary.
Thanks!
Welcome. I’m still looking for the Launch location.
Booster explodes upon landing.

Oh Oh, same day starliner scheduled to return. What could go wrong.
Crewless Starliner will be doing a Russian-style dirt landing in the desert.
This will be as spectacular as Star man in a Tesla with mother Earth in the background.
Launch pads must be “human rated” just like boosters and capsules. The only one in the US is pad 39A at Cape Kennedy.
I must be tired; read all of this and still clueless about the flight and its purpose in real terms.
Is this the mission that (God-willing) will be the first to enter the Van Allen Belts since Apollo?
Yep.
Elon Musk brings his love for sci-fi literature at work as he names each drone ship after his favourites. Know the story behind SpaceX drone ship names.
SpaceX has earned enormous respect over the years for paving the way for reusable rocket boosters. After all, who would want to invest in a vehicle that's only capable of being used once? SpaceX founder Elon Musk took it upon himself to name each and every one of the famous SpaceX drone ships that carry the rocket boosters. Avid followers of Elon Musk's Twitter handle will be aware of the billionaire's offbeat side with his frequent references to sci-fi memes. This time, the founder takes it one step further by bringing his love for sci-fi novels to the SpaceX drone ships.
The trend started six years ago when Musk announced via Twitter that he had named the company's first spaceport drone ship "Just Read the Instructions." Soon enough, he clarified the meaning behind the name, revealing that he did so in honour of Iain M Banks. For those who aren't familiar, Iain M Banks is a famous science fiction author who was the man behind the Culture Series. The naming ceremony didn't stop there as the founder went onto name the second autonomous boat "Of Course I Still Love You".
Furthermore, SpaceX's CEO has also paid tribute to the cult classic Star Wars franchise by naming the Falcon rockets after the Millennium Falcon. Musk has also referenced classic poems and songs through his engineering work. Some examples of the SpaceX drone ship names are the Dragon capsule that takes after "Puff the Magic Dragon," a popular song from the 1960s music band Peter, Paul and Mary. According to Tesmanian, the pun is in the details as the capsule is meant to land in the ocean after a full flight mission success, which is synonymous with the song lyrics "Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea."
Next, Mars designed Superheavy Starship was named “Heart of Gold”, which is inspired by Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Over the years, netizens have picked up on the context and have actually started looking forward to the quirky iconic references as SpaceX continues to soar higher into the stars.
Thx

In the last couple of weeks we saw SpaceX lose its oldest booster, get grounded, return to flight and still not launch Polaris Dawn.
