I’m from Loma Linda, California, a small city known as the only Blue Zone in America. Studies have shown that residents live up to around a decade longer than the rest of the United States.
Why I never consume energy drinks Energy drinks have become popularized through social media over the years. They’re often marketed as quick solutions for boosting energy, fueling during a pre-workout and enhancing alertness.
As a dietitian, though, here’s why I advise caution:
1. Energy drinks can disrupt your sleep and your appetite
2. Energy drinks can spike blood sugar and increase inflammation
3. Energy drinks can affect your physical and mental health
If you find yourself constantly needing energy boosts, my best advice is to consider discussing your lifestyle and eating patterns with a registered dietitian. That can help you identify a healthier and more sustainable relationship with food and your body

My father grew up in Loma Linda. His family was originally Seventh Day Baptist, but he eventually became a Methodist.
“There’s boron in 20 Mule Team Borax (laundry detergent booster) - which apparently they still make.”
I use it and vinegar for cleaning.
Open Heart surgery is no joke, I agree with you on that, it bothered me more mentally than physically.
When I was told I had stage 3 heart block and needed a pacemaker 3 days after having open heart surgery it screwed me up mentally.
I don’t know if it was the anxiety of the surgery, the drugs they were giving me or the total lack of rest you get in the hospital, the idea that I needed another surgery a couple of days after open heart surgery because my heart wasn’t working right got me to believe I wasn’t going to survive, totally screwed me up for a couple of days.
Don’t think I could handle that much peat first thing in the morning.
The medical establishment has systematically attacked borax as dangerous.
It isn’t in small amounts.
The history of their actions mirrors so many other suppressed treatments.
Take yer medicine ! LOL.
I believe she’s talking about the energy drinks that are full of sugar and caffeine.
My kin usually lived to about 85-89 years old. They drank like fish, smoked like a chimneys and ate anything they could get.
Then there was dad. He did the same and died at 70 years of age of a heart attack. they found he had another heart attack earlier that he ignored and survived.
I have eaten anything that could not eat me first, never smoked, drank a little and am going strong at 77.
At the age of 44 years old I was doing heavy exercising and blew a mitral valve in my heart. Open heart surgery and a mechanical valve placed in. As a result I am on heavy doses of warfarin and do not lift weights anymore. Then in 1986 heart pains. I had a stent placed in my heart and a heavier dose of warfarin given.
I am still doing well on my mechanical valve and warfarin. I will be going to the doctor in three hours for my yearly checkup.
I believe it is more genetics. There is NO biblical reason NOT to eat meat. The animal sacrifices were to be eaten after the fat was removed and burned, and St Paul says...
1 Corinthians 10:25-26
King James Version
25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles(meat market), that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
26 For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.
And Jesus: Mark 7:15
There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
20He continued: “What comes out of a man, that is what defiles him. 21For from within the hearts of men come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,j 22greed, wickedness, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, arrogance, and foolishness. 23All these evils come from within, and these are what defile a man.”
The best way to stay healthy is to eat real food. Always choose mother nature over man made. If you must have breads, pastas and sweets, make it yourself from clean, non-GMO ingredients.
Man made, processed foods and seed oils are a ticket to metabolic syndrome, increased cancer risk and early death. It is that simple. Our food supply is killing us.
Convenience stores like Buc-Ees and others WIDELY increased the ease of access to the “new health foods” in the 80’s and people have been getting fatter and more diabetic ever since.
After you eat this crap and get fat, you go to the Doctor and get on meds for metabolic syndrome. They steer you to AHA and ADA diets that encourage you to keep eating carbs and processed foods (instead of protein and fat) which only lead you to need more meds. Even the food pyramid directs you to eat more foods that caused your problems to begin with. Absolute insanity.
“”The SDA dilemma. Most don’t “party” and are vegetarian.””
Shouldn’t you explain to those here who might not know what SDA is? I happen to know but that doesn’t mean FReepers around the country do..
I’ve never had it so bad I needed hospitalization but i used to get diverticulosis several times per year. Eventually I started eating probiotic yogurt or drinking kefir several times per week and no longer have any trouble. I went from about 7 instances per year to about once very 3 years - typically when traveling and off my regular diet.
Thanks for scriptures. Been teaching Bible for 57 years.
Dad died at 93, Mom at 96. Men on my father’s side usually lived into 90’s. Great x3 Rev. War grandfather born 1748, died 1850.
Our days are numbered by God. Period.
From wikipedia:
“James H. Salisbury (1823–1905) was an American physician and chemist known for his advocacy of a meat-centered diet to promote health, and the term Salisbury steak for a ground beef patty served as the main course has been used in the United States since 1897.”
I’ve read he used it to treat civil war troops who were dying from diarrhea.
Look into the all meat carnivore diet. I’m 77, have been on it for six years.
Dr. Ted Naiman was raised Seventh Day Adventist. He changed to a high protein diet based on animal protein after one of his diabetic patients got healthy on the Atkins diet.
CNBC? No thanks!
Thanks! We’ll be singing that one at the Irish session at our pub this evening.
My father's 7x progenitor was a MacGregor.
Just a shower of rogues, we are! I just have a thimbleful, neat. Same idea.
