When we lived there we use to discuss how to escape the region if a big ugly event, economic collapse, epic quake, war etc...
I recall the LA riots, the biggest most deadly riots in modern American history. For the first several days the LA cops were basically hiding.
Now one can imagine what that entire region would be like in a major event...Nothing I would ever want to go through.
We came to the alarming conclusion there would be no escape.

North Hollywood was allegedly gentrified in the 2000s. I don't know if it's so.
I think a couple years in a work camp would help them yutes

I lived in Orange County CA many decades ago.
The weather was wonderful, the beaches were incredible and in those days the women were beautiful.
However—everything was dependent on high civilization.
Now that it has started to fail that part of the country is a very risky bet.
I’m not a victim blamer, but, fella, you’re Asian. You have to know that black folks have a hatred hotter than 1,000 suns for your race. They hate Asians more than they hate white people.

Also, much of the residential building downtown was apartments. If they had built more condos then "pride of ownership" might have gotten more residents to demand more police patrols, etc.
I used to live just north of DTLA near the Music Center. It was quite nice and quiet at night. The apartment I was living in was hinting at going condo, but never did. I might be living there now if it had converted.
I have some cousins that work downtown. The parking is so expensive that they have to take pubic transport. They have bear spray to keep the homeless at bay when they walk from the bus stop to their offices.
The ones that could be seen clearly weren’t black, they looked Asian.
Mob, gang, bad collective v individual. Stay aware, stay safe, stay armed, stay alive. Don’t be a victim in lawless America.
Man recording with his cell phone had to be asked by the victim to call the police. Don’t know if he did. A lone young woman pulled the victim away from the fracas. The cell phone guy needs to turn in his XY card.
I hope L.A. makes some changes before the 2028 Olympics.
My sister-in-law lived in L.A. in October 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. She said the entire town was in a panic with people grabbing all items they could off grocery shelves and hi-tailing it out of town, running red lights, causing wrecks.
In that region, the store shelves would be stripped clean in less than 1 hour. Those showing up late would be robbed and beaten.
