When we lived there we use to discuss how to escape the region if a big ugly event, economic collapse, epic quake, war etc...

I recall the LA riots, the biggest most deadly riots in modern American history. For the first several days the LA cops were basically hiding.

Now one can imagine what that entire region would be like in a major event...Nothing I would ever want to go through.

We came to the alarming conclusion there would be no escape.

I lived in Orange County CA many decades ago.

The weather was wonderful, the beaches were incredible and in those days the women were beautiful.

However—everything was dependent on high civilization.

Now that it has started to fail that part of the country is a very risky bet.
