All of Tim Walz’s military service embellishments — from claiming he carried weapons in war to making people think he deployed to Afghanistan
NY Post ^ | 8/08/24 | Chris Nesi, Isabel Vincent

In 2004, Tim Walz organized a protest outside a rally for President George W. Bush where he held up a sign that read “Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran 4 Kerry” — referencing the US fight against terrorists in Afghanistan.

The trouble is, in his 24 years in the Minnesota National Guard, Walz never deployed to combat zones in Afghanistan or Iraq. The closest he got was thousands of miles away in Italy. But it’s a label he used again and again — including in his official biography when he ran for Congress two years later in 2006.

That photo shows just one way that Walz, Kamala Harris’ VP pick, has repeatedly exaggerated and embellished his military record. Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq, accused the second-term governor of Minnesota of “stolen valor garbage.”

At least one former member of Walz’s National Guard unit who was deployed to Iraq took a dim view of the haphazard way in which the VP candidate has spoken about his service.

“It’s stolen valor,” said the former guardsman, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“He used very specific phrases on his website that would suggest to a civilian that he had been to Afghanistan. He carried signs protesting at a rally for George W. Bush saying he was part of Operation Enduring Freedom, which would signal that he had seen combat in Afghanistan when he hadn’t.”

The Harris-Walz campaign seemed to acknowledge the critics on Thursday when it scrubbed another contested claim about his service record from his official biography on its website — that Walz had retired as a command sergeant major.

(In fact, Walz actually retired from the military with the rank of master sergeant because he hadn’t completed the required additional coursework, the military said.)

Where’s former Navy serviceman Pete Buttgieg to condemn Walz as the brazen liar that he is?

This makes my blood boil when I think of how the RATS fabricated false paperwork to make it look like George W. Bush hadn’t shown up for his flight sessions with the Texas Air National Guard in 1972–73. RATS don’t even think Walz’s continual lying and service record embellishment is a big deal. Just like Richard Blumenthal’s stolen valor. These people are f’ing criminals. Admiral Jeremy Boorda, Chief of Naval Operations committed suicide in 1996 after he was questioned about wearing a pin he hadn’t received a citation for. Walz has committed more egregious acts, and for being a consummated liar, he is now the RAT VP running mate. This is what the RATS truly think of our military. And every election year, they send thousands of lawyers trained specifically to challenge overseas military ballots to get them tossed out.

"There are plenty of reasons to reject Tim Walz without going into this gray area."

Walz promised to deploy with his unit. He reneged on that promise. He also repeatedly lied, and embellished his service record. That's the real point. Claiming he carried a weapon while serving in Afghanistan...a place he never even went. Same thing with Senator Blumenthal telling people for year's he served in Vietnam, when he never even left the country.

Since the Minnesota National Guard tells me Walz is a slug...he's an f-ing slug, and like Kerry, and Clinton, their lies should be mentioned to prove their lack of character for the job they are running for. RATS fabricated paperwork on George W. Bush regarding his service with the Texas Air National Guard. A liar needs to be called out as the liar they are as often as possible.

"Granted, the former is a small fry compared to Kerry’s blatant and grotesque offenses, like treason and falsely accusing other veterans of war crimes."

And as Lieutenant of a Swift Boat, he got to write his own "after action" reports and present his own recommendations for the three Purple Hearts he received...one for getting hit in the ass with a spent kernel of rice.

Once a jolly swagman camped by a Billabong
Under the shade of a Coolabah tree
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled
“Who’ll come a-Walzing Kamala with me?”

Down come a jumbuck to drink at the water hole
Up jumped a swagman and grabbed him in glee
And he sang as he stowed him away in his tucker bag
“You’ll come a-Walzing Kamala with me’”.

Up rode the Squatter a riding his thoroughbred
Up rode the Trooper - one, two, three
“Where’s that jumbuck you’ve got in your tucker bag?”,
“You’ll come a-Walzing Kamala with me”

But the swagman he up and jumped in the water hole
Drowning himself by the Coolabah tree,
And his ghost may be heard as it sings in the Billabong,
“Who’ll come a-Walzing Kamala with me?”

In 68-76 I ‘supported’ the Viet Nam war with long range ALS commo. I didn’t ‘deploy’. I was Permanently Changed of Station (PCS). I’ve never once tried to imply or weasel word that I served in a combat zone - EVER. 6 yrs 11 months overseas out of a stint of 8 years and 3 months.

Just saying 24 years in the National Guard would have been good enough for me.

Even his Retirement Form looks to be missing a lot of pertinent permanent training records.

No mention of Basic Training or Basic Combat Training, or Advanced Individual Training for Artillery or Infantry.

No mention of any weapons qualification medal for M-16, M-4, Pistol, Grenade, Machine Gun, etc. As an infantryman he should have had at MM marksman, SS sharpshooter, Expert for the highest score with rifle.

Also missing is the special identifier at the end of his MOS, e.g., 71L50 Admin NCO, 11Z50 Infantry Sr NCO, 13Z50 Artillery Sr NCO. His MOS ends with a zero. A paratrooper gets a P, so 71L5P, or a first sergeant 11Z5M, or 13Z5M. He was just one of many people who stated in the National Guards long enough to attain rank as a weekend warrior.

In the late 70s, the army and AF came out with a bunch of peacetime awards. Basically, they started giving out a ribbon for leadership trianing, ANCOC, BNCOC, PLDC, etc. Noticeably missing is his Sergeant’s Major Acadamy.

In fact, quite telling is that he was in combat arms but he took his additional training for administration, Unit Clerk training is a latteral duty or a non-artillery admin slot. But becasue he holds an admin position as an E-8, or 71L50 this means it was either his primary Military Occupational Speciality of Secondary MOS. Therefore, he was probably not serving in a combat arms MOS at all or as a NCO/NCOIC for a crew served weapon cannon. He may have been awarded a secondary MOS as 11B after earning 13Z once he became a NCO. But taking the Admin NCO 71L50 is probably that he was a long term clerk or Admin NCO. He would have kept his secondary combat arms MOS but again as secondary.

ANCOC in E-7 Sergeant First Class training
PNCOC is probably E6 leadership training
BNCOC is E-5/6 Basic NCO course
PLDC is E-4/5 level training

Army achievement medal - an atta-boy
Army Commendation Medal - his highest award. After 20+ years to have less than a MSM is or multiple ARCOMS is indicative of one who only shows up.

He went to training in order to meet the requirements to hold his promotion ranks or to gain promotion. Everyone must attend these at a minimum after promotion.

He served in the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery. In a battalion there would also be a Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta Battery but probably spread around the State of MN.

I double seriously that this guy was the leader they expected to lead them into combat - maybe he left before deployment at the direction of his commanding officer.

The caliber of the man or weapon is suspect.

Oh, yea. I don’t think this is his actual form. I think some idiot made it. Too much pertinent information lacking.

Yeah served in Thailand air bases here, during tail end of US/Viet collapse and withdrawal, but never felt comfortable claiming to be a “Vietnam-era vet”
Because it implied facing what the troops in combat really faced in and over Vietnam.

Also Supported Desert Storm from the Pentagon but never claimed to be a veteran of Desert Storm

LOL. I did enjoy being an unrepentant lunatic, drug addicted, baby killing, fascist, pig. Here in Redmond Oregon people often thank me for my service. In Eugene Oregon, where I lived for over 40 years, that seldom happened.

Now that people can integrate micro-aggressions into their being, I like knowing I can still irritate these sensitive, pure creatures.

Thank you for your service. My only brother was a Vietnam Vet. Enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in Company C, 4th Battalion (Mechanized), 23rd Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division in Cu Chi, Vietnam from April 1966 to March 1967. He was originally stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska when they reactivated the 25th, and he was sent to Hawaii for advanced jungle training. He passed away at the young age of 51 in 1995.

You were a little closer to the action than Da Nang Dick Blumenthal. Joking aside, I was a peace time sailor who was awarded a Navy Lebanon Expeditionary Medal when the embassy was blown up. I never got shot at. Instead of working 12 on and 12 off, I had to work a few extra hours per shift and no port visits for months. I was never in any danger, but people that were boots on the ground and overhead were..

Thank you. I agree. There are plenty of evil people in the world that should be dead, but are allowed to remain breathing, and continually injure innocent people.
