CINCINNATI — Multiple teens and an 18-year-old man have been sentenced for their part in a Jan. 23 assault on a man downtown.
In court Friday, 18-year-old Jadin Shaw was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his part in the assault.
In addition to Shaw, multiple juveniles have also been sentenced for the attack after accepting plea deals; WCPO is not naming them because they are still children.
In addition to Shaw, five juveniles were also charged in the crime:
A 14-year-old has been sentenced to probation
A 15-year-old was ordered to pay $800 in restitution to the victim
A 13-year-old pleaded guilty to a robbery charge connected to the crime, but juvenile court did not provide their sentence
A 14-year-old charged for the Jan. 23 assault and a second assault on Jan. 24 was sentenced to probation
A 16-year-old charged in both the Jan. 23 and the Jan. 24 attacks is still awaiting sentencing
The January 24 assault happened Tuesday just after 8 p.m. near the intersection of Walnut and E 6th streets. It was caught on two separate security cameras.
In the videos provided to WCPO 9, a person walking down the street is jumped from behind by a group of people. The group kicks him to the ground and steals some of his belongings before they run off. Though the victim was repeatedly punched and kicked, they only suffered minor injuries, according to a police incident report.
"This incident is very disturbing to watch," Cunningham said. "It is not OK to do what this group of individuals did to this victim. Two individuals have been arrested and must be held accountable for their actions."
In court, officials said the man hurt in the first incident was walking home from work when the suspects attacked...

But but but crime is down
July 2024
Crime rates in major U.S. cities declined substantially in the first half of 2024, according to novel data from NORC at the University of Chicago’s new Live Crime Tracker.
Using data from the Live Crime Tracker, a city panel that collects daily crime reports from the open records of 49 mid-sized and large U.S. cities, we find that both property and violent crime declined at a historically anomalous rate from January 1 to June 30, 2024, compared with the same period in 2023.
Three major types of crime declined by more than 22 percent: Homicide (-22.3 percent), Burglary (-22.5 percent), and Motor Vehicle Theft (-22.1 percent).
Robbery declined 13.9 percent, Larceny/Theft declined 8.9 percent, and Simple Assault declined 6.3 percent.
Aggravated Assault (-1.1 percent) and Sex Offenses (-4.4 percent) were essentially unchanged from the prior year.
Next time, steal a car, or rspe, or stomp somebody in a basketball game. As long as you stand gor your Fod-given rights, you are a traitor to the swamp. Harm another’s, you are but a misunderstood yut.
That BS “fact check here on MSNBC shows crime rate is down.”
“But the Trump Right extremists continue to promote the myth.”
Meaning plea bargain deals reduce charges, violent crimes are reclassified to misdemeanors and some are ignored with police told to stand down to there won’t be escalation.
Do citizens feel safer? No.
Those “teens” are so much trouble, gosh darn it. Always have been.
A number of elderly folks are serving 2-3 years sentences in federal prison for the crime of attempting to protect the lives of unborn children.
Who is Cunningham?
They will meet dad soon enough in Joliet, Danville, Statesville, or any other number of Illinois ‘correctional’ facilities.
Bill Cunningham a Great American (WLW radio personality) my guess
So basically nothing happened to these little pieces of garbage.
… she said, with a straight face.
Can you describe the criminals?
Do they teach woke pronouns in journalism school now?
Showing that crime reporting & actual sentencing is down.
Other reporting indicates the crimes & attacks continue unabated.
Dad or his belt.
Are you going to believe the report or your own lying eyes?
