He just said something courageous for a GOP elected official during his rally in Ohio.
He straight up said that he was wrong in 2003 about Iraq and that it ended up costing thousands of lives and trillions of dollars.
I admire him even more now!
If you're worried about JD or this lie he's Establishment then you don't need to be concerned after hearing that.
This is not the party of Bush any more.
It's very clear to me.
You are correct they were there but not in the numbers thought. Problem was and still is, there are no good solutions there.
Good to hear it to be honest with you and nothing wrong with it .
Vance is blazing a trail when he keeps saying these things
When he mentioned it before he said Trump knew back then and this is why he’s a good leader
The idiots thought Iraq would turn into some Jeffersonian democracy. It’s now an Islamic Constitution vassal of Iran. Also, taking away vast amounts of military forces from Afghanistan was insane.
Peppers, he sure did.
That’s why the Middle East remains a tinderbox and the ruler there makes Saddam look like Reagan.
And they still hate our guts for “liberating” them.
I’m so glad that Max Boot guys like you are completely irrelevant now.
That move paved the way for the MIC to profit more, at the eventual cost of thousands of American lives
Saddam Hussein protected Assyrian Christians from Islamists. After destroyed Saddam, Christians in Iraq that had been there for 2000 years were systematically exterminated. Christianity is now extinct in Iraq
Bingo! That was the problem the MIC (really just the industrial complex part!) convinced themselves and any politician whose string they could pull that Iraq was just like the defeated 1945 Germany and a “Marshall Plan” was just the ticket to make it all hunky-dory! Their drooling over the thought of that money drove everything!
I respect that. I remember 2001 and 9/11 and I remember supporting invading IRAQ/AFGHANISTAN. It was many years afterwards (for both) that I realized we (America) were duped into nothing but MIC wars. In the end, after we chased Bin Laden into Pakistan we should have invaded it immediately. A lot of lives would have been saved.
No more useless GOPe wars, finnegan. Isn’t it wonderful!
The ability to say “I made a mistake” is the sign of someone who knows himself and not driven by emotion.
The overthrow of the Iraqi regime after 911 was perfectly legitimate and of national security interest.
It took a month.
Don’t confuse and conflate it with deep state uniparty milking it over the next years.
“Systematically exterminated” by whom troll?
Systematically exterminated by Saddam’s dispossessed Sunni Ba’athists, aka AIQ, aka ISIS. The Sunnis who were trained, supplied and advised by the KGB/Russia along with KGB/Syria.
Kinda overlooking the half million Shia KGB/Saddam murdered prior to 2003, the Kurds up north and the KGB-sponsored chemical weapons programs which KGB/Saddam’s cousin, Ali Hassan al-Majid (Chemical Ali) used to gas and kill 5000 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halabja_massacre
In 40 years did KGB/Saddam bring elections to Iraq? A representative republic? Whereas it took the US, Coalition and Iraqis less than 5 years to do it. So a representative, pluralistic republic was never KGB/Saddam and Ba’athists objective. So don’t take credit for what the US, Coalition and Iraqi republicans did - which Russia, the KGB and their fought against. TROLL!
Good grief. He was 18. Don’t be a pander bear JD.
While on site, my primary job was to shadow the CO, to respond to any requests. LTC Garner exuded leadership, was always under control. You could tell his officers and soldiers regarded him highly, not just for his rank, but as their leader.
LOL, I’ve always thought their after action report of my unit was SO GOOD that our higher HQ left us alone the rest of that summer. I was usually in command as my CO was usually back home dealing with marital issues. All of my soldiers and NCOs were excellent, but there were a few occasions that needed a decision, and I made them. Our closest support was 200 miles away.
LTG (ret) Garner was the perfect man for that job, and Dubya blew it.

We were all lied to about WMDs.
I was also on the wrong side of Iraq back then. Although I was one of the first people to question what the goal was as soon as Bush said “we are not in the business of nation building” during his big speech (was it a state of the union?) during the buildup.

That was a different time. When many of us trusted our government. I supported that war too. Now I know better.
“We were all lied to about WMDs”
Really? The largest chemical weapon attack against civilians in history and it was all a lie?
Like I said......drivel
What did Iraq have to do with 9/11?
The problem with Iraq isn’t that we went in, it’s a we went in without the resolve to do the job correctly, and went it with the touchy feely “hearts and minds” unicorns and rainbows nonsense.
I think in hindsight, if I knew we didn’t have the guts to do it right, it would have been better to have stay out.
Which is why I’m against almost all foreign intervention now, because it’s clear after Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, that the US population doesn’t have to stomach to actually do what is necessary to win.
Your Mom’s drivel
