TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Yellow caution tape surrounded the front of a Publix store last week after a sneaky little alligator was caught hiding out underneath a corral of shopping carts.
Lisa Royal said she had stopped at the Publix on 1575 Old Trolley Road in Summerville, South Carolina, on June 26 when she spotted the unsuspecting gator and quickly captured a video.
“It was so unbelievably out of the ordinary, I had to stop and document the moment!” she told WFLA.
Video of the gator encounter shows shoppers and workers standing around the caution tape as carts blocked off where the gator was hiding.
“Y’all this is happening right now,” Royal said in the video. “There is an alligator under the shopping carts outside.”

Royal added that she’s not sure what happened to the gator, although she does believe that the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources was called.

Next time I go to Publix here in Miami, I will take a careful look under the row of shopping carts before I grab one.

‘Gator is probably pouting after finding out just how expensive Publix is, compared to a lot of their competitors. :P
