Temperatures will build to their highest marks in years across the Midwest and Northeast and stay at sizzling levels for days as Mother Nature cranks up the heat ahead of astronomical summer, which begins Thursday, June 20, at 4:50 p.m. EDT.
AccuWeather's long-range team has been sounding the alarm for more than a week on building heat in the East during the third week of June that would put millions at the mercy of a prolonged stretch of 90-degree Fahrenheit temperatures. The longevity of the intense heat will put additional strain on residents and electrical infrastructure.
For many in the Midwest and Northeast, this week will constitute the first official heat wave of the season, which, in this part of the country, is defined as three or more consecutive days of at least 90-degree temperatures. Heat alerts have been issued for more than a dozen states, stretching from Iowa and Illinois to Maine, as the summer swelter takes shape.

Hottest weather in ‘years’. Which means some years ago it was hotter.
Yep, we have heat domes, polar vortex, derecho storms, and the Weather Channel names snowstorms the way we give names to hurricanes.
It all adds up to a certain hysteria and fear mongering.
Good thing we haven’t neglected our power grid.../s
When I was a kid we lived in inner city St. Louis near the Anheuser Busch brewery.
In 1954 the official high temp got up to 115 degrees.
It stayed hot into the night (brick flats were like ovens) and we only had a window fan.
We finally gathered some quilts and went to the park and slept on the grass.
Summer of 1980 in Texas still holds the record for longest streak of 100+ days of heat. It started first week of June and lasted through August. Lakes and pond went dry.
Didn’t really matter to a teenager growing during a time of great music and lots of beautiful girls!!
In Kenosha Wisconsin, this is the hottest it’s been for years. But that’s the weather.
Kenosha, the city saved by that teenager with the gun. Kyle Rittenhouse. Love that guy.
Yep, it snowed on Mt. Schweitzer in Sandpoint, Idaho a few days ago. It’s been cold, cloudy and wet all spring in the Inland Northwest. There’s barely any mention of that.
God bless him for doing his part to try to keep peace during the illegal riots which the media ignored-
Temps near 100!
(The Southwest points and laughs)
It’s global warming...it happens every SUMMER!! 🤓
Yup. It's called "summer".
Oddly enough, the opposite happens in January when temperatures plunge into the single digits, also known as "winter".
Yep. Now we have “Heat Domes” and “Atmospheric Rivers” and more.
It is absurd.
I don’t watch television, but my wife does. They have a few days this week into the nineties, and the news stations are whipping people into a frenzy about it.
Then they segue right into the hurricane “threat”.
Their goal is to keep people in a constant state of agitation. It is what they do. Part of their plan.
I remember when the 1950-57 Texas Drought broke. We went to visit the ranch where Mom grew up in central west Texas and water was running everywhere, it was awesome.
There was also the Dust Bowl about 20 years before that which was north of the ranch. Extended family relocated to the ranch from the northern area until it ended.
1988 might be the year it was 110 in VA. The pet Rabbit died.

yes, the weather in every season is different than the year before. It’s so stupid to believe the agenda of the left. Anyone over 10 years old knows that.

I can only shake my head at it.
Me too. That I could deal with easier, being in my 20s... Now I have COPD and with the humidity and no AC, it is difficult. I manage though. It helps to focus on my mom and the dogs and their comfort.
I’m getting old, but I think I remember 90-degree days in years gone by.
I also remember the coming ice age of the mid-1970’s.
