Midwest, Northeast to experience hottest weather in years as temps near 100 F

Temperatures will build to their highest marks in years across the Midwest and Northeast and stay at sizzling levels for days as Mother Nature cranks up the heat ahead of astronomical summer, which begins Thursday, June 20, at 4:50 p.m. EDT.

AccuWeather's long-range team has been sounding the alarm for more than a week on building heat in the East during the third week of June that would put millions at the mercy of a prolonged stretch of 90-degree Fahrenheit temperatures. The longevity of the intense heat will put additional strain on residents and electrical infrastructure.

For many in the Midwest and Northeast, this week will constitute the first official heat wave of the season, which, in this part of the country, is defined as three or more consecutive days of at least 90-degree temperatures. Heat alerts have been issued for more than a dozen states, stretching from Iowa and Illinois to Maine, as the summer swelter takes shape.

Bs- we had Temps that high last year, the year before etc. It’s summer, and usual,y every sum er we near 100 degree week once or twice a summer- it’s what summer does! I was just as miserable last year during a week long stretch of 90-100 degree days with high humidity as I am right now.

The gaslighting by the hysterical feckless left just never ceases!

The west has been having snow in the mountains, why are they not highlighting that?

And just when did 90 plus degrees become “intense heat”? Yes itshot, but again, it’s summer, and that is what summer brings, nearly every year!

I would be surprised with any year that stayed under 80 degrees and low humidity all summer and fall

Accuweather, Weather.com and Intellicast make their money solely from advertising. Their advertising revenue is a direct function of how many people go to their site and how much content they see on the site. No wonder they hype every weather event as unprecedented and catastrophic. Follow the money.

I'm in the Northeast. The latest 15 day forecast shows the highest high of 92 degrees and that's on the fifteenth day from today.

In YEARS!!! That’s way beyond the recollection of most Democrat voters. They can’t even remember what the economy was like 4 years ago.

The glorious summer of 1988! Six solid weeks of 90-100 degree temps in the DC area, not a drop of rain. That’s going to be hard to beat.

The next year’s summer was miserable, rained nearly every weekend like clockwork. I had to do a top-end rebuild of my 1980 Honda Accord’s carbeurator with it sticking half way into the garage.

Doesn’t fit the narrative.

I do too. Cleveland had its all time high back then, 104 degrees. Never been close since. Other than the 90 degree benchmark, I notice a complete lack of data or precise predictions in this scare story. This is typical of the alarmists. Refuse to be pinned down.

La Ninia is causing the hotter weather. It has to do with Weather patterns.

I agree about the gaslighting, and I agree with those who are suggesting it may not be political at all, just monetary. It’s all about the clicks. Just like every snow storm these days gets characterized as ‘bomb cyclones’and every cold snap is an ‘arctic vortex’, now a couple days of 90s is a ‘heat dome’! ahhh ahhh ahhh!!! The sky is falling! /pun

This is nothing new!

In Buffalo. Sure it's hot. Maybe low 90's. Summer weather. But boy you are hearing all about it.

But the funny thing is, spring has been cool and wet. Middle of May we were in the low 50's. Unseasonably cool. Listen, when you live in Buffalo, and winter is 5 months long, you crave warm weather, so you notice that you still are wearing a sweater until Memorial Day. I didn't hear the weather channels talking about how cool it was in the northeast then...

The weather hysteria is more hysterical these days because there is so much competition for consumer views/clicks these days.

Whoever screams the loudest wins!

Unusual? Yes.

Unheard of? No.
